I am lucky on that one, all it does to me is make me sneeze a lot. DW does have to be careful with her brands because some just set me off. I have walked quickly out of the MDR before so I would not be sneezing on peoples food after someone swam in the stuff and walked by.

I would think that if if locks up your throat, you have had to run out a time or two

Although in fairness, our issues with the above on RCI, Princess and Celebrity have been pretty much limited to formal nights.
Try sailing on HAL on a European cruise There it was EVERY NIGHT, AND DAY.
We couldn't get away from the blue haired grannies who bathed in perfume.
We had to move in the dining room. We had to move in the theatre.
We even had to move on bus excursions. Terrible.

My DW was living on Benedryl the whole trip.

I am merely pointing out the flaws in your logic. I deal in absolutes in my life. I am a software engineer, so using flawed logic results in failures in the things I work on.

Whenever I see someone trying to prove an absolute with a single example, I need to point out the flaw in logic.

The post is about people cancelling due to the change in the new smoking guidelines on RC. I used my parents as an example...that is all. There is nothing flawed in that. Go pick on someone else now.

It's hardly a single example. Many people have stated on here that they have cancelled or know people who have cancelled including me.

... and many people have booked because of the change, including us. The only ones who know are Royal Caribbean. If you see them reverse the policy, figure the change hurt them. (don't count on it)

We enjoy Carnival as well, but until they catch up with the industry, we'll be sailing RCI and Celebrity.

You may like Carnival, from recent experience, I can say there are plenty of smokers over there. I really don't think any cruise line will want to be known as the line that caters to smokers, just as most good hotels have restricted smoking areas no smoking in any rooms (at least in the U.S.)

Having recently cruised for the first time and walking through the casino I would say that RCI are very much catering to smokers. All of the reasons that are quoted such as consideration for other guests and safety issues are just proved by this to be hypocritical.

The policy hasn't taken effect yet. We only transit smoky casinos when absolutely necessary, we don't gamble.

The important change to many of us, will be the ability to enjoy our balconies without being chased off it by cigarette smoke. It's easier to avoid the casino than my balcony.

Now the smell of beer on people makes me sick literally so should I demand that beer drinkers only drink on certain parts of the ship or within the beer drinkers space at restaurants? NO and I wouldn't be so ignorant to even ask that now for those who say smoking is worse second hand that beer smell. Well it depends on your beliefs and what makes you sick. Bottom line is whatever vice you have you should all be courteous of others around you who may be bothered by it. And yes I booked my cruise KNOWING that the new smoking ban on balconies and will respect that policy and smoke in designated areas

Jamie
I agree with you whole heartedly! The only trouble is that the "smoke-****s" will only be happy when smoking is banned from the ship entirely! I just came off an Allure cruise. The biggest cruise ship in the world and we didn't have a dedicated smoking lounge! We had an out-door bar that was very windy. All I'm saying is give us a well-ventilated indoor bar to enjoy our cigars and cognac in and we won't bother you! I promise!

That word after "smoke" that Cruise Critic won't print begins with "n" and has "azis" after it!
