Bora Bora - Things to do around Tender Dock

Recommended Posts

Lots of little shops. There's a place that sells art to the right (south) that is run by a lady from the states. The the left (north) just about 1/4 mile away is a little shopping center with a small restaurant where you can grab a drink and a bite to eat and use their free wifi.

There is not much around the tender dock other then a few tiny shops. If you are not taking a tour, or planning on just going to a resort for the day, we would suggest renting a car from either Avis (Vaitape location). These cars sell out far in advance so reserving is necessary.

First of all, you might consider tendering back to the ship and having a light lunch or freshening up. The tenders don't go any great distance, so depending on your evening departure time, you have plenty of time to tender back into town and go the shops.

There is the market right by the dock, with lots of shell crafts, mostly jewellery (beware, some aren't very authentic). Back on the road there are some beautiful jewellery and art stores, well worth spending time in, even if you're not buying--great stuff. We watched someone sorting bags of black pearls, for instance and I loved ogling all the black pearl necklaces and other pieces.

Thanks Charlie,

Can you enlighten me as to what bocce is please?

Sure it's sort of like a combination of shuffleboard and lawn bowling. The object is to get as close to the pallino as possible without hitting it. They say it's a game that times five minutes to learn and a lifetime to perfect. We play it a lot at one of our local wineries.

If you check out Wikipedia, there's more of an explanation as to rule and whatnot.

The guys there are tons of fun to talk to (providing you speak French). The games are pretty much every night. Just make sure you wear bug repellent if you go out.

The courts are to your left as you exit the tender.
