happy_travellers Posted February 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2016 We will be embarking at Pier 2 and then overnighting till 6pm the next day. Is there anything to see within walking distance to pier 2? Where would the nearest Bus stops be? Is there a shuttle from the pier to Waikiki? Last time we cruised from Aloha Marketplace and it was very convenient but Pier 2 does not seem to be. Thanks Karen
happy_travellers Posted February 1, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Nobody has any helpful info? Costs of a taxi back into Waikiki? Is pier 2 as isolated as I am thinking or just a walk away from bus stops etc. Thanks Karen
cruzn single Posted February 1, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Actually, Pier 2 is in a better location as far as stops for TheBus go. Just walk out to Ala Moana Blvd and stop will be right there. A Very short ride into Waikiki. Not really an isolated area!

cruzn single Posted February 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Catch TheBus on the same side of the port for Waikiki. Cross Ala Moana and catch #19, #20 or #42 headed for Pearl Harbor and that will take you directly into ChinaTown.
RobTheGob Posted February 2, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 2, 2016 How long of a walk 10 minutes? Chinatown?Thank you for the helpful info very much appreciated. I think Chinatown is closer to 20-30 min away. Iolani Palace is about 10 min away. Aloha Tower - maybe 15 min?
Astro Flyer Posted February 2, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 2, 2016 We've mostly arrived at the Aloha Tower (pier 11) and only arrived at Pier 2 once. We easily walked around old Honolulu to the State Capital building, Iolani Palace & across the street to the King Kamehameha statue in front of the Hawaii Supreme Court building. In the old Hawaii Five-0 the Iolani Palace was their HQ and the current version is in the Supreme Court building. We searched online for the downtown old historical buildings & did our own historical walking tour. ;) Here's a link to the port's map & an aerial overview of the area: http://hidot.hawaii.gov/harbors/files/2012/10/Honolulu-Harbor-Oahu.pdf Also Google Maps will have walking times & bus options from the Pier 2 Cruise Ship Terminal. Astro Flyer Posted February 2, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) Thanks for the link Astro Flyer. You're welcome & on O'ahu they have a great public transportation system...The Bus...and last I heard it was about $2.50 to go anywhere on the island. Construction of the Honolulu rail system will sometimes result in traffic delays or buses being rerouted: http://honolulutransit.org http://www.thebus.org Edited February 2, 2016 by Astro Flyer

Within a mile walking you can go to the Aloha Marketplace and the edge of Downtown Honolulu, to Iolani Palace and the Ali'iolanli Hale and the Ward Centers. See the map below. https://goo.gl/maps/RnGYEjFXDjR2 You can also catch TheBus, a cab or Uber to Waikiki or Ala Moana Center. A cab is maybe $20, Uber about $10.
