Is there anything around Maho beach?

Hi,

I'm sure this may have been asked before, we are going to St Maarten for the first time and are looking at excursions to Maho beach.

I've found one on http://www.cruisingexcursions.com (Is this a ligit site?), however we are wondering if 4.5hrs at Maho beach it too long and if there is anything else around that area preferably in walking distance.

I keep seeing trips for Orient Beach & Maho which gives 2hrs at each beach. This is an option for us too, but I'm desperate to see the KLM flight come in and the combined trips go to Maho last which miss the KLM flight.

Thanks for any help!!

You can walk to Mullet beach in about 15 -20 minutes. The Maho entertainment area has restaurants and a casino and shops and is a few minute walk from Maho beach.

The beach at Maho is horrid. If you must see the low flying planes, find something else to do afterwards. ;)

Haha thanks! To be honest I didn't think it was the best beach. We've now changed our minds and will use water taxi/ bus to get there so that we can leave whenever we like instead of being stuck there for 4.5hrs.

You can bus or land taxi to Maho but not water taxi. Sometimes it is a nice beach but most of the times its just a place to enjoy a dip and watch the planes.

My friend Google suggests 10:55 am local time. You can check KLM arrival times at SXM - the code for the airport there. The 10:55 flight is from Amsterdam ( AMS - SXM) so it will be the big plane.

It looks like departure is at 4:05 PM.

What days? Usually one weekday and one weekend day in the summer.

I mean water taxi to Philipsburg and then bus to Maho Beach. (Sorry, I didn't make myself clear at all after reading it back!)

KLM lands at 10:55am approx (St Maarten time)

Ohh no!! I have a feeling that we're in St Maarten on a Wednesday which means we'll miss the KLM- now that bug*ers it all up haha!! Are there any other big planes that land there?

I don't think anything like the KLM 747, but Jet Blue, Delta, American and others have daily flights from the US - which are not little inter-island puddle jumpers.

Check SXM Arrivals on line to get a feel for flights/times arriving on particular days of the week.

Why not just take a taxi from the cruise port??? Saves some time..
