Feasible to take train into amsterdam?

We arrive at 2:30 pm at Amsterdam airport and was thinking about using public transportation to get to our hotel at Double Tree Centraal Station. Any suggestions on how easy it is and where to find the info on what trains/trams to take? I'd love to save a little $$ by using public transportation.

Also how to get from the Centraal Station to the dock where the Celebrity Silhouette docks.

Super easy. They have people that will help you get tickets at the airport. The train station is directly below where you buy your tickets. We stayed at the Sheraton at the airport for 2 nights, but took the train in each day. The ticket person told us we could take any train headed toward Centraal. The first day we must have gotten an express, because it went direct. The second we made a couple stops. No worries. I don't think you'll have any problem

Thanks for the info. Will do as suggested and take the train directly from the airport.

Take good care of all your belongings at all times, especialy during stops at other stations. Pickpockers love the train too.

Great suggestion-thanks. We took the train last year in Rome out to the cruise port. We kept all our luggage with us. Heard from another couple who left their bags on lower level of train while they went up to top for viewing. Came back down and was missing a small bag that had all their electronics equipment in it. Lesson learned.

If you can carry on and off your own luggage; perfectly. And if you have enough time use the balcony of the train with the bicycle icon, you can store your suitcase besides and there are fold down seats and the balcony is much larger.

And express (intercity) trains have free wifi yes. :)

Thank you, that is very helpful. Does the "balcony" of the train refer to the platform, or the floor of the train car? Also, I see you live in Amsterdam. Can you recommend a good place to buy a couple of bottles of wine to carry onboard the ship? Thanks again!

The platform, your train will probably be a double deck type, saving you some steps up and/or down with luggage.

In Amsterdam all supermarkets sell a wide selection good to great table wines, no need for a search for a liquor/wine shop. Look for the better chain stores; Jumbo or Albert Heijn (AH) supermarkets or the Gall & Gall liquor/wine stores. Don't stop at the station's AH To Go as their prices are higher than the regular AH's. Multiple are within a few minutes public transport of PTA/Central Station.

Thanks for your help!

Looking at the site linked from the airport site for trains (ns.nl) it shows cost is 4.20 euros to get to the city center per person.

BUT i'm a little confused...it mentions "OV-Chipcard" or e-ticket for that price.

Can we just show up at the station in the airport and get 2 tickets for 4.20 each, or is it higher if we don't have that card or e-ticket?

Sorry for the late response, the quoted price is indeed a fare written of a chip card. A top up OV chip card will cost you (brace yourself..) € 7,50 each. Totally worthless for tourists..

A paper ticket for that fare will cost you € 0,50 each at the staffed ticket office, the only place where you can get them, quite easy and English speaking staff.

An alternative is the Amsterdam Travel Ticket; https://www.ns.nl/producten/en/overige-kaartjes/p/amsterdam-travel-ticket if you have plans to use (unlimited) public transport to and from Amsterdam airport AND use the public transport within Amsterdam on one or more consecutive days.
