What to do from the Sete port?

Hi, we will be arriving Sete, France and am wondering what is "thee" place to go from here? I see several options... one of which is a long time want to go to Avignon. What are the popular excursions from here?

Can't speak about excursions since we simply rent a car and do our own thing in most of Europe (including Sete). Avignon is about 1 1/2 hours from Sete and a pretty nice drive. You can also add a quick stop in Nimes.....and Arles is only a little out of the way. Avignon is a pretty large city (we have spent several vacations in that area) but you would focus on the older walled city which has plenty of cafes/restaurants, shopping, and a few tourist sites. We do not recommend the train for this port day since the trains take about an hour longer (each way) then the drive.

Good info on the train. I'll have to look into Arles and Nimes too. I'll have to see if there are any recommended private tour/drivers out of this port.
