We're going to do rent bikes to see the sights in Victoria. I've read that its a "bike friendly" town, but do you need to be in really good shape? It's been years since I've been on a bike, but hubby wants to do this. Any input from those that have done this? Thanks!

It's not very hilly if that's what you mean. There are some hills but they're not too steep and not too long. It can also be windy. If you're totally out of shape (aerobically), it may not be that great an idea.

Cycling involves less effort than walking the same distance - that's the entire point of a bike, to efficiency of motion. Since you say you have ridden before, balancing won't be an issue so really the only problem is getting a sore bum if you aren't used to bike seats - especially if, how can I put it politely, you're carrying a wider load than back in your previous bike riding days;-)

Rent a cruiser bike - with old-school broad leather sprung saddles - for comfort on that front (or rather back...)

You don't need to be in really good shape but the traffic is very busy and getting busier all the time.
