Question Embassy Suites Isle Verde Questions

We are looking at staying at the Embassy Suites Isle Verde one night pre-cruise for our June 2010 cruise. I'll be using my Hilton Honors Points for this night. Has anyone stayed at this hotel? We will have 5 people in the room. Two adults and three girls ages 15, 15, and 9. Also, is there a store within walking distance of the hotel were we can pick-up water and soda to take on the ship with us? Can you recommend a good place for dinner, either at the hotel or in the area? How's the pool?

Thanks for any and all info.

Mike

I can't help you with the Embassy Suites, but wanted to let you know about pop and water. We sailed on Celebrity in March. They use the same pier as Royal Caribbean. Right in the terminal there was a shop where you could by pop, water or liquor to carry aboard the ship. It was great!! We only bought water and had no problem. I've never seen this before and wish all the ports had it.

Stayed at the Embassy Suites both pre and post cruise this past February. We reserved a 2 bedroom suite for 4 of us. It was wonderful. They offer a complimentary Manager's Reception each evening with complimentary cocktails and snacks. We stayed right in the hotel for dinner and ate at the "Outback" steakhouse which is right off the lobby. The hotel had a very nice pool area, another fast food court area serving pizza and snacks, a casino and a very nice complimentary breakfast buffet the next morning. it is extremely convenient to the airport(about a 5 minute taxi ride) and a 15 minute ride to the pier. There are also a couple of markets nearby for you to purchase your soda and water. As a matter of fact, I have reservations for both pre and post cruise again this coming February. I think it is a great choice for you.

Default A Taxi Question?

Hi Cruisawaits -- We'll also be staying at the Embassy Suites the night before our cruise w/ nine in our party. You took taxis from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the port. With the size of our party, I assume we'll need to take multiple taxis. What was the price of a taxi for the two trips? Are there any other options available? Thanks.

As I remember, the taxi cost was approximately $14 between the airport and hotel and $22 from the hotel to the port. All taxis in San Juan are rate controlled and you will be given a slip at the taxi stands both at the airport and the port listing your rate. It is a very well run system. They do offer vans. However, with a party of nine plus luggage. you will most likely need two taxis.

We did our PRE Cruise at the Embassy Suites are we were a large group.

We rented the 2 room 2 bath suites. Which were lovely. This was the first time we stayed.

WE LOVED THE COOK TO ORDER BREAKFAST! WOW!

That saved us money and time. We had lots of tours scheduled for the little time we were there. We were able to eat early and be ready for our tour guide pick up by 8 am.

My husband was upset because he didn't realize how BIG the pool was. I told him one night going to hang by the pool with the girls. HE passed said he was too tired. Then the last night he was at the manager's reception and said that wasn't a pool but more of a mini swim park. Water fall, huge pool, kids pool, whirl pool, towel section, and outdoor bar. So he was sad--lol. I told him he should've gone to the pool.

Great hotel and value!!

We have stayed at this hotel 2 times. We love it. As mentioned before they have the a 2 hour manager reception each night and the buffet breakfast is also very good. I believe you will not go wrong booking this hotel. We are giong out of San Juan on our next cruise next May and again will do 2 days pre-cruise and spend 1 day post-cruise. You are close to stores to purchase water and soda, and also just 2 blocks from the beach. There are also restaurant close to the hotel. We really dont want to eat at the hotel as it is an Outback and we can do that here in Phoenix. We try to eat in out of the way places to try the authentic Puerto Rican flavor lol. I hope I have helped convince you to stay here. It really is a nice place.

Can anyone tell me how the prices are in the Restraunts at Embassy Suites? We will be staying there 2 nights pre-cruise & may just eat there rather than have to get a taxi & go somewhere to eat...

The big restaurant is Outback Restaurant. Prices just a bit higher than here in the States. They also have a Cafe, but have never eaten there. There are numerous other places right around there. Pizza Hut, fast food and they even have a Ponderosa Steak House. The resorts across the main street has a Ruth Chris Steak House. Not sure of the name though. I hope this helped.

The Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in the InterContinental closed February 28, 2009.

There is The Palm, "The Classic American Steakhouse" located in the El San Juan Hotel next to the InterContinental.

Cool It's all good - we would stay again

We stayed at this Embassy Suites two nights pre-cruise April 08, and we were very pleased. As others have said, rooms were large (we are party of 4), breakfast, pool were fine. The beach is a very short 2 blocks directly in front of the hotel. We spent an entire day on the beach just swimming, but there were wave riders, etc for rent about a hundred yards further down to the right. Beautiful day, but be sure to bring sunscreen as there was no shade or umbrella rental there that we saw. (got burned!)

Our first night we went to the Outback for dinner. There are several "fast food" type restaurants about a block from the hotel, and we ate there the second night. There was also a small food mart on the same block, where we picked up bottled water and snacks, priced same as at a 7-11.

Also, there were 2 or 3 computers in the lobby for internet access. Not sure if it was really free, or if someone didn't use up all their time and left, but DD used it several times for no charge.

The computers are free for guests. Looks like we may definitely be back in San Juan next may. We are looking to book the Serenade Of The Seas. We will have at least 8 but probably more people going again. She has 8 days instead of 7 on this particular sailing. An extra day for the price of 7.
