Question Skagway - GLACIER POINT WILDERNESS SAFARI

We're signed up for the GLACIER POINT WILDERNESS SAFARI excursion in Skagway through the NCL Pearl. I've been reading lots of posts but haven't seen this excursion reviewed. I did find a website with pictures from a 2006 trip and it looks terrific. Has anyone been on it or heard about it? It includes a catamaran from Skagway and then a 30 person canoe which gets very close to Davidson glacier. Thanks for your help.

I just did that tour last week and we loved it. The catamaran ride is about one hour and you can go outside and take pictures, just hold onto your hat! The canoes hold 10 people and you only canoe alittle bit. They have motors and that is what is really used. You get close but not on the glacier and it is an interesting view from the canoe. I is expensive but we really enjoyed it. I suggestion is to bring plenty of mosquito repellent. I have some photos from the canoe and from the ride over, Unfortunatley, the photos are out of order,so you will have to go thru alot to find the wilderness safari pictures. They are labeld at least! If you are interested, here is the address http://f19810.smugmug.com.

Maybe I am missing something, but I thought this excursion was in Skagway and you mention that you wonder if you can do Mendenhall which is in Juneau and this in one day?!

We just got back today from our cruise and did the GPWS. Repellent is provided and it was needed! Most of the problem was at the staging area where we got our boots, etc., but we did have some on the bus ride also. We had a good time on our canoe, and would recommend the trip. Some have said this was the highlight of their trip. My favorites were NorthStar's helicopter glacier trek (Juneau) and Island Wing's Misty Fiord (Ketchikan) trip.

My goodness - now how do I pick an excursion between the following 3:

Glacier Point Wilderness Safari
Chilkoot Bus/Train to Emerald Lake - 9 hours
or renting a car and doing the leisurely drive to Emerald Lake and back

They all sound great.

My plan is to take the Wilderness Safari during the day, then do the evening train ride. I hope we can pull this off!

Hi,
My wife and I did the GPWS in AM (early June this year). Got back by 1:30PM. Looked around town for a little bit. Went to the Days of '98 show and then took the 4:30PM train ride to the Summit. Back by 7:30PM. And then a slow wander back to the Radiance. Booked train on our own right after getting back from the GPWS and also got show tickets then. Car we were on was more than half empty.
