Default D1 more expensive than JS

Looking at the RCI web page for prices on Voyager on 3rd September.

I noted that a D1 cabin is £21 more expensive than a JS. Both categories have plenty of availability and neither shows a special (ie 55+) discounted price. None of the D1 cabins seem to be in any special locations. There is even a JS on the hump at the cheaper price.

How can balcony cabins be more expensive than Junior Suites?

In this situation why would anyone book a D1?

There is no Voyager cruise on the 3rd of September.

I think the OP means the 13th September. Yes, the price difference is still there this morning.

I wish they'd do that on my sailing!

Sorry, yes I meant the 13th.

We are booked on that cruise in a JS. I am not too unhappy because we paid less than current JS rate for our centre hump.

I just cannot understand the relative prices of D1 & JS.

Looked at US prices and the JS is $50 more than D1. Looks like it is just the UK site. Could it be a mistake - a lucky mistake for someone.

Our sailing on FOS (20th Sept) has several JS cabins at £111 less than a D1. The JS are still £220 pp more than we paid for our hump D1, and they're not in a great location IMHO. The prices have been like this for weeks.

The earlier Eastern sailing on 6th Sept has a price difference where a JS is £200 more than a D1. It must depend on the number of cabins available at each category.

We changed our cabin to a JS on the Explorer for 20th Dec last week. We had an E1 and a JS was £270 ea cheaper, both on the hump. How does that work?

Supply and demand. Obviously the JS' s are not selling as well as the D1's. We took advantage of this same situation a few years ago on Vision.

Same thing happened on our FOS cruise: at one point JS with NJ discount was $1699 and D1 regular price was $1749. I've seen weird pricing with other categories as well, it's just their marketing of the moment.
