Bermuda "Meet & Greet" and group day sail (ala TTOL)
We're docked at King's Wharf Sept 13 - 15 and would like to schedule a "meet & greet' on the island similar to the "TTOL" parties we've enjoyed on other islands. TTOL is a popular site for land-based travelers to sicn up for a meet & greet on the island. These are extremely popular because they're a great way for people to meet at the same time they are enjoying what the island has to offer.
The idea is to have folks who are going to be in Bermuda on Sept 13 or 14 meet at a bar/restaurant or beach bar late afternoon, and just get a chance to meet different folks. Very low-key and fun - a beach bar atmosphere is the best, that's why I have a post inquiring about fun beach bar spots. Usually the establishment will be happy to provide a food discount or happy hour to the group to "sponsor" the meet & greet. Many times this is in the form of free hors d'oeuvres or happy hour drink pricing for an hour. They can look forward to some members staying or returning for dinner or the group returning next year for a reunion. So we would inquire at any places that were recommended.
Part of the meet & greet is signing up for a day sail the following day (Restless Native or other sail). Everyone interested can enjoy the day sail with new-found friends. This makes the sail even more relaxing and enjoyable, even people who are a little apprehensive end up thoroughly enjoying themselves. We would need to book ahead of time, I'm sure, and a simple coastal scenic tour would be fine, whatever the group desired.
Some folks on our ship (Spirit) are coordinating a shipboard meet & greet, and this works great because you're able to say "Hi!" to others you met as you run into them during the cruise.
But we've found that the island and next-day sail is a wonderful experience, and a great way to meet interesting people, whether cruisers or land-based travelers - a real mix of folks. This is our first visit to Bermuda, and we look forward to seeing new spots and meeting others at the same time.
If you are in Bermuda during this time and even a little interested please give us the following:
- Number of people interested and the dates you're available (9/13 or 9/14 for the meet & greet since 9/15 is our last chance for the day sail).
- Any meeting place recommendation and why - 1st choice, 2nd choice.
- Are you interested in a sail the next day? We'll look at choosing an itinerary once we have people "on-board".
Thanks all, looking forward to meeting new "associate travelers"! Any suggestions on improvements to the meet & greet would also be appreciated, as this is our first time coordinating one during a cruise.
