Well, actually, I don't have a tuxedo.
Dressing up is not something for me. But I have a good sense of humor and I DO have this: ![]() It looks like a tuxedo but in reality it's just a long sleeved t-shirt. Suppose, just suppose, I would show up with this on a formal night, would I be in a lot of trouble? Don't get me wrong; it's just for fun and I don't want to make a mockery of the formal nights. ![]() Best regards, Gerrit Mesker The Netherlands |

Although I would never wear it, I did see a group of guys who were wearing something similiar on our last cruise. It gave me a chuckle.
P.S. This will give "The Clothes Police" fits!

Well – if suggested attire is a T shirt – then you will be perfectly dressed

I have seen this on many cruises. It wouldn't bother me but if you are going single and looking to find a new girlfriend this may decrease your chances, or increase them, but in a bad way.

Nope I'm not going single. But considering the response so far I think I'll/we'll skip the formal nights. Of course I could rent a tuxedo but wearing something like that would make me feel really uncomfortable. It's just not 'my cup of tea'. Well, it's a good thing we all aren't the same, right?

And for lunch here in the UK!
As T-shirts are not suggested attire for formal nights (in the MDR) then it isn't appropriate IMHO, but for a casual night, yes. However, as other threads seem to indicate, dress codes are becoming so casual now on RCI it doesn't appear to matter what you wear. I'm not sure on which ship you are sailing.

You don't have to wear a tuxedo; if you just wear a nice dress shirt, tie and long pants, you will not feel uncomfortable.

Seriously, usually one person does this per cruise (at least) and I don't think they are making fun of anyone, it just looks a bit silly. Your tablemates might love it. Never can tell.

I would smile for sure! Of course, upon reflection, I'd also be angry that I packed and carried my dark suit.
Actually, the staff on NCL wear something similar Last edited by yogimax; August 3rd, 2009 at 10:11 AM. |

![]() I know. Our first cruise in 2008 was with NCL on the Norwegian Jade. I also have another short-sleeved t-shirt with tuxedo-print. I thought I was more or less original with that until I learned that the whole staff had a tuxedo-shirt on the 'Monaco'-themed evening. ![]() There were a few passengers who thought I was one of the crew-members.

Someone bought my son one of those when he was just born, almost 21 years ago.
I might think it was silly fun, but do you really want to appear silly? |

Hell no. That's why I dropped this thread here; to see what other people think of it. I know that on most cruises the audience consists of mostly 'older' people who have a different kind of humor than I do. I'm just 'checking the water before I decide whether or not I'll take a dive'. Or something like that.
Pardon my English.

I guess you answered your own question. My point made in my first sentence is that your shirt is nothing new. Last edited by Happy ks; August 3rd, 2009 at 10:45 AM. |
