Default The Emerald & cabin c743

Heading to the Caribbean on the Emerald in October! Has anyone had this cabin on the Emerald? It is right at the rear corner of the ship and a bit concerned about noise and movement. Was treated but the upgrade fairy from a guarantee BE to the above BB cabin on the caribe deck. I think my aunt and I got a nice treat but she is concerned.

Also, how is the Emerald overall? Haven't seen much posted about the ship and wondering if it is in good shape or not. We have previously cruised on the Crown and the Coral. I loved MUTS on the Crown and really missed it on the Coral.

Any information about the ship and cabin would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS!

The Emerald is a beautiful ship. The staff was great and the food was the best we have ever encountered. I am looking forward to sailing on her again in January.

We love the Emerald! We sailed on her for a 10 day cruise in 2008 and had the aft cabin B749 - which we loved. In 2010 we are sailing again for a 10 day and have the same cabin you are in. We had no problems with ship vibration or noise and the back aft area is very quiet & private. One night we did have rough seas and the cabin did have some "creaking noises" as the ship rocked.

I am sure you will love the ship - the Piazza (atrium area) is one of my favorites places to walk along visiting the shops & cafes. Be sure to stop at the Adagio lounge for a cocktail and try their delicious olive sampler.

MUTS on the ship is also a bonus and very popular. The ship is in great shape with a great crew & staff. IMHO - I think you will enjoy her very much - have a great cruise!

We were in C742 on the Emerald and C743 on the Caribbean Princess. Very nice rooms with balconies a little bigger than the rest of the side facing Caribe balconies. There is a little extra section like a triangle towards the back and about 4' extra of railing too.

Very quiet location at the end of the hall. I would say you received an excellent upgrade as Caribe balconies are the best! You will have 4 chairs with 2 that recline back and a nice sized dining height table. You will love that balcony!

The Emerald is a beautiful ship. Don't forget to try the International Cafe on deck 5 with all the free selections for breakfast and lunch.

Have a great cruise!

The large deck will be very nice but you will have significantly more walking to do. As long as that is not an issue, you should enjoy the room. You'll feel more of the ocean motion than at mid-ship, but that's half the fun of cruising!

Default Thank you to everyone!

Thank you for your repsonses. The extra long walk just means i have to eat more to maintain my girlish figure right??

I am looking so forward to this trip and being at sea. Literally-it is the only place that work can't bother me.

Thanks Again!

You might want to now mark your reservation "no upgrade" as that's a REALLY nice cabin and location!

I agree with the above poster; tell your TA to mark your upgrade to "no upgrade. That is a great room and very good area.

Default Really? No upgrade?

My TA is all ready asking if we would rather be in a BB midship in the Riviera deck. I had told her no but that I would check with my aunt.

So I should stick with this cabin. I will follow your words of advise. Truly my aunt was hoping for the mini suite upgrade like we had for the Panama Canal but from at BE to BB to mini suite is really asking for too much.

We were in C742 (same location, opposite side) for our Baltic Cruise & LOVED it! You got an excellent room. The Emerald is a great ship - enjoy your cruise.

Midship is supposed to be better because there is less rocking motion. Unless you are prone to seasickness I think your room is better for several reasons. It will be much quieter, you will only have a neighbor on one side (the other side is open air looking aft at the beautiful wake), your balcony is larger and, unless you are smokers, you will have less chance of having smokers near you.
Also be aware that if your last cruise was to the Panama Canal you were probably on the Island or the Coral which have much different configurations than the Emerald. Almost all of the mini suites on the Emerald have totally uncovered balconies that everyone from above can look down on AND the balconies on Caribe are TWICE as big as the mini suite balconies.
This is extra info to think about so you can make an informed decision about which cabin will be best for you.

I just reread your post. Riviera is right under the pool. You DO NOT want to be there!!!!!!!!!!!
