Default Seasick in Galapagos ???

We are looking at a cruise to the Galapagos for July or August next year. I am, however, worried about seasickness. I ALWAYS wear a patch when I cruise and never have an issue on the larger ships and cruise several times a year. I do, however, avoid excursions on small boats in rough waters. I have heard that the seas around the islands are sometimes rough. Can anyone give me any idea if I should try it or avoid it ? I know it is an awesome cruise, but would be no fun at all if the seas were rough and the ship was small and I got sick....
Any information would be helpful. THANKS

Have you found the large Xpedition Galapagos thread yet?

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=158948

We were there this May and most of the time could not tell we were on a ship. However, I understand the winds and seas can pick up in the time period you are considering.

Thanks. I saw it but it dealt way too much with GI problems. I started a new thread because I wanted to know only about sea sickness, not GI problems.

We were in Galapagos during the month of June 2006. I personally had no problems but my husband wore a patch and a couple of other people were seasick. If you're really sensitive then I would wear a patch. Better safe than sorry.

We went in November and had a very smooth sailing. But several people on our cruise were wearing those patches. Guess it couldn't hurt to wear one. This is our very favorite cruise, it is like no other and if you can go on it you should.

I plan on wearing the patch. I was worried that it wouldn't be enough. When I went on an excursion in South America the water was really rough, I had a patch and took dramamine and was still extremely sick......

We went in January several people had patches, bracelets and took medication a few pax did get sea sick.

It is a small ship and we did hit some rough patches of sea.....the day we were getting fitted for our wet suits on the 3RD deck several of us found ourselves feeling nauseous and had to move to a lower deck.

One advantage of this cruise is no full seadays.

We were there in April and it was very calm. One of the guides told us it could get very rough in August and September. Perhaps a winter or spring cruise would be better for you. A storm can happen anytime but going when it is typically calm might be better for you.

You might want to consider early Dec. We chose that date b/c of the wildlife: sea lion having pups, blue-footed boobies courting, etc, but the weather was ideal, moderate temps, gentle breezes. The waters were *very* calm. It was easy to forget you were on a ship except we don't get that kind of food/drink service on land! <g> I didn't see anyone wearing patches or bracelets.
