Trabzon, Turkey -has anyone been there?

We are sailing on the Odyssey from Istanbul tomorrow and I have just discovered via the SB site that we have dropped the port in Georgia and are now stopping at Trabzon instead. This means that we can visit Sumela monastery but has anyone done a private tour there?
Since we have been in Cappadocia for the last 4 days and I didn't get an email about the port changes I presumed that my research for this trip was completed!.

Oh.... that reminds me that we were supposed to be on this cruise too!
Well, just have to wait a couple of months!
No sorry, I don't know Trabzon, but from the beginning I thought Seabourn would skip Georgia due to the problems with Russia!
I wonder if the winter Olympics in 2014 will still take place there!

We were in Trabzon in late May. Outside of Sumela, there's not much too see or do. I scoured the internet looking for a private tour guide with no success. We walked into town (ship docks close to city center) wandered around and saw the old town, prison a mosque etc, bought some baklava and turkish wine--go with the baklava and forget the wine.
