Default Bus Transportation from Central Florida to cruise terminal ??

Does anyone know the names of Bus companies that pick up passengers going to the Ft. Lauderdale Cruise Port. I have used Cruise Connection twice and it was HORRIBLE!! They make round trips, therefore, when you get off the ship approximately 9am, you are left waiting outside the terminal with all your luggage for anywhere from 2 to 3-1/2 hours. This happened both times we used them. We live in Orlando and have seen other buses picking up passengers off International Dr., but cannot find any listings for them. Would appreciate any information you can offer. Thanks Jean

One other option that we have used is to rent a car for the drive down to Ft Lauderdale. After you drop off your checked luggage you take and turn in the rental car and then the rental car company will provide transportation back to the cruise port with your carry-on luggage. The cost is comparible with using a bus service and you decide when you want to get to the terminal.

Not all car rental companies will allow a one day one way rental from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale but call around and check. I think I used Thifty last time we did it.

Have a great next cruise.

This may or may not help, but Amtrak has a train that leaves Fort Lauderdale at 9:20am heading north..

It's only 7 miles from the port, but I would be worried that I wound't get off the ship early enough -- the next (and last) northbound leaves around noon.

Aloha,

John

I'd do the one-way rental...just easier!

Cruise Connection is the only one I'm aware of, but the nature of that type of thing I don't see how any other company would do it differently. If they had more busses and went one way empty the cost would be much more.

I'd rent a car and drive each way, or else just drive your own and park it at Port Everglades or Park 'N Go, or Park 'N Fly.

Default Transportation from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale

Thank you all for your responses. We did the car rental thing one year when we were going to Europe out of Miami. That worked pretty good.
I was considering doing it again, but had hoped someone knew of the other buses that do that run. Thanks again
