Default Sky suite on Summit..worth it?

We just returned from Alaska on Infinity. We had a concierge cabin and it was OK, but I was wondering if it would be worth the upgrade to sky suite for Bermuda April, 2010 on Summit? Has anyone been in both? Input please.

We have done both Concierge Class and Sky Suites and I can highly recommend a Sky Suite. Personally, we think the extra cost is worth it, but we find we spend a good amount of time in the cabin or on the balcony. My husband really likes the extra room in the SS. And the butler - don't even get me started. It's wonderful!

Having said that, we now book Sky Suites when on Celebrity.

Default Butlers

Could you tell me what a butler does for you? You seem to like it and I'd like to use ours more fully. We will be on the Summit for an October Med cruise in a Sky Suite.

Jan. 4, 2010 we will be a Sky Suite on Century. Will be able to order a full breakfast from room service. We would like to have omelettes ect. on our balcony. Is there enough room for three adults to eat at a table on the balcony of a SS?

The butler readied the breakfast table in the cabin each evening in anticipation of our leisurely in-cabin breakfast. He/she will get you anything you want for breakfast - at least what is available at breakfast time. One morning, he got waffles for me. They are on no room service menus, but the butler did it.

He would have unpacked and repacked for us, but I'd rather do my own unpacking so I know where everything is. And repacking...I wouldn't wish that on anyone!!

Each afternoon at about 4 p.m., there was a knock on the door and the butler was there with the tea cart. He learned on the first day that I like a small pot of decaf coffee in the afternoon and he brought it everyday thereafter. On the tea cart were finger sandwiches, cookies and petit fours. Then at about 5 p.m., once again he knocked and brought a plate of shrimp for DH and a plate of cheese and lovely crackers for me.

You can call upon the butler with any request you have. He arranged for us to get an egg crate for our mattress. He took care of our laundry and dry cleaning needs. He or his stand-in were available 24 hours a day. I can't think of other specifics, but I can tell you it made the trip that much more luxurious. We are spoiled rotten now - between the size of the SS and the service of the butler. I don't think we can go back to a CC cabin again Toto.

In our cabin there was enough room for 3 adults to eat on the balcony. We were in the SS next to the PH cabin, so that balcony MAY be slightly larger, but I don't think it would be a problem.

Thank you for replies. The butler service sounds very nice and I'm glad we have the extra room.

We found on our next sailing that the Celebrity Suite was better priced because of a special resident rate than the sky suite. If you want room definetely go with the CS room. We had a full living room, full dining room and a seperate bedroom with walk in closet. It was the quietest room we have every had in 13 sailings. Wonderful jacuzzi bathtub and all the amenities you could ask for. Our butler even got our bags out of security. They suspected liquids but he said he must have those bags to they released them. You also have a huge tv and full bar set up (just bring those liquids) Our butler made sure we had the right cocktails glasses everyday for us and our 4 friends. Like another poster mentioned the butler will bring you anything you wish. The in room breakfast was awesome. The coldest juice and the best omlette I have every had for room service. The table was set and everything. Yes you don't have a balcony but with the picture windows you don't need it. This way if you want sun go up on deck. Otherwise you have a truly amazing view.

Claudette,

We have been in a Celebrity Suite (as a visitor) on a cabin crawl we participated in on Infinity. It was an unbelievable cabin. I would gladly give up my balcony for those floor to ceiling windows from the living room of a CS. My husband would probably feel differently because he loves to lay in the sun on the balcony, but if the CS were less expensive than a SS, I'd book it in a New York minute.

Default CS versus SS

My two friends and I had a CS for a two week Alaska cruise. It was lovely and our butler wonderful. My daughter and her friend had a SS one deck below us. The larger bathroom was nice, especially the whirlpool tub. Having the dining area was convenient since the five of us had breakfast in our cabin most mornings.

All that said, I am a balcony gal and would have missed the feel of the cold air and the sound of the orcas exhaling had my daughter not called me to come down as we sailed past the pod of orcas. My DD and I are booked for a Panama Canal two week cruise in a SS. As luxurious as the CS was I did miss the balcony.
