Default Khakili Khan Bazaar-Egypt

Just wondering why the tour company's charge extra to see the bazaar. There is no entrance fee to go in. Contacted Nile Blue and Rasmes and both say these are optional or a supplement. Thank you.

Are you adding them to a set tour that they do? If so it has become a private tour with who ever is in your party and would be a different price.

The previous poster may be right. Alternatively (as I'm a bit cynical), these companies undoubtedly prefer to have you shop in places of their choosing (i.e., the dreaded rug factory, perfume factory, papyrus factory.....) where they already have arrangements to get a kickback from any sales.

This is the way many guides eke out some extra money, and I don't take issue with it, it's just best to be aware of the practice.

I have a feeling it may be because your tour is outside of Cairo - if you see the Pyramids etc., you're in Giza and it is would be a 'detour' to go into the city where the Bazaar is located, that might be why they are charging you extra!

We are doing a private tour with Nile Blue I got a price for the private tour and later DH said he wanted to go to Khakili Khan Bazaar. They sent back the new itinerary rearranging the tour order adding KKB and the price was the same.

Going to the bazaar is optional-meaning it's not normally included in the tour. However there's no charge for it.
