Has anyone taken the train from Le Havre to Paris? How far is the train station from the cruise terminal? How often does a train make the run to and back from Paris? What are the fares? Where is the station in Paris? Is it close to the Eiffel and other sites in Paris? Any other details you can offer would be appreciated.
I'm looking at doing a day trip into Paris on our cruise next summer and I did not want to forget the train option...

The French Railways site (SNCF) has all that info for you. Best to check yourself because the day of the week and the time of day and even perhaps the month of the year can affect the number of trains and the time it takes.
The train station is quite a walk from the port. Maybe 20 mins or so. It is next door to the bus station. You could take a taxi, maybe others could share with you if you are only 2 because many heading for other places will also travel to the bus and/or train station. This is quite a FAQ. If you are logged on, you could use the SEARCH THIS FORUM button with Le Havre or Paris as the keyword and read the masses of previous posts and replies which you might find helpful. |

You could also check in here for that info:
http://www.cruisecritic.com/ports/newport.cfm?ID=85 If the train does indeed put in a Gare St. Lazare, that is probably about 20-25 minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower. Gare St. Lazare is on the other side of the Seine, about 10 mintues north of Place de la Concorde.

I looked into this and the trip is 2 1/4 hours each way. First practical train was at about 8.30am, so into St Lazare at about 11am. Assuming your ship leaves around 9pm (as most seem to) I think the absolute last train you could get was about 5pm arriving in Le Havre about 7.30pm. From memory I think it was about €30 return if you book in advance, €60 return if you buy at the ticket office on the day. So that will be around 4 1/2 hours travelling for about 5-6hrs in Paris. The site you want is http://www.voyages-sncf.com/ Click on the little Union Flag half way down on the left to get it into English.
