Thumbs up Tram on Castaway

What can you tell me about the tram? Is it crowded? Shall we count on using it or should we count on walking?

Does it go to the Adult Beach?

Anything you can share will be appreciated.

It wasn't crowded when we rode it, but I'd imagine it could get crowded first thing in the morning and late in the afternoon. Even so, it's only a few minutes between runs, so you can easily wait for it to return.

To get to the adult beach, you'll have to transfer to a second tram, which requires a bit of a walk to get between the trams, but it's not too bad. You could walk to the adult beach, but that would be quite a hike along the unshaded runway (which incidentally was formerly used by drug runners before Disney owned the island!).

The tram is large so we have never had to wait due to it being full.
Plus it is only a 10 minute walk to the family beach.
So if you feel like a little exercise just walk it, thats what we do then ride it back in the afternoon when we are tired.

Its an easy walk with some great photo oportunities along the way.

Thanks for the info on the tram and having to change vehicles to get to the adult beach. My wife is a cancer survivor and does walk as well as she used to so any help I can get to get her to the adult beach is appreciated.

Have a great next cruise.

If she has alot of trouble waking in the sand they have sand friendly wheel chairs on CC. Just check with guest services at the beginning of the cruise. They are first come basis and you can push her through the sandy part to her chair. They are free to use.

I have seen then near the family beach across from the first aid station. Not sure if they have them at the adult beach but I bet if you ask they would have one waiting for you there if you explain the situation.

When you walk from where you get off the tram to get on the one to the adult beach there are places you can stop and sit if needed. The picnic area for one and it is covered. Plus there are shaded benches to sit on where you wait for the tram. Going both ways.

Thanks for the ideas. She is better than she was but still has trouble walking long distances and walking in the sand would definitely be hard for her.

I will check with my TA and also with Disney.

Thanks and have a great next cruise.
