I am a first time cruiser and have very little idea about room selection. I know many of you might recommend changing categories but we are fine with trying out an inside room this first go around. It will be my husband and I cruising. What I want to know is within my catagory (J) if our room is okay. It was selected at time of reservation by the company but I was told I can change it if I want to. So can you please look at the attached .pdf map and let me know will be an okay room or a loud room. Will it be too far? or other things maybe since I am new I am not thinking of. Should I request a different room?
My room is 5021. http://www.pullmantur.es/share/MKT/OD_EN.pdf |

when are you cruising and where are you cruising from.
Cabin is very forward-- so motion would be a concern. Be aware that inside cabins are extremely dark 24/7 inside rooms are small. make do with the space they give you- unpack your bags- do not live out of the suitcases. store luggage under the bed. cabin looks to be above and below cabin space. good location to the stairs/elevators= VERY long walk to the food/pools

Looks like an ok location to me...being near the stairs is a good thing...there's really no noise associated with it, and it's convenient....you are a bit "forward", which can be a slightly rockier ride, if seas are rough.
As far as the cabin itself, all cabins of the same catagory are identical in decor. |

Your cabin is pretty far forward. If you have any concerns about motion sickness you may want to consider changing to a cabin closer to mid-ship (first choice) or towards the aft, which has less movement than forward.
I don't mean to worry you about motion sickness because most people don't have a problem with it. I have been in many different cabin locations and there are pros & cons to all. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you more.

What is aft? I have seen that word a lot here but what does it mean?
We are cruising in January around Colombia, Venezuela, and the ABC Islands. I have no idea how rough the water will be. |

"Aft" means toward the rear of the ship.
"Forward" would be the opposite of aft. The room looks OK as far as noise noise concerns. Depending on where your door faces there might be a little traffic noise from the stairs. I would not worry about it. (If you do get sea sick, at least the Med Center is only one level down.) Rich

I've stayed inside in all sorts of different locations on ships. It seems that there's always a lot of walking so, unless you have mobility issues, don't worry about that. Mid ship just means that you are more centrally located. This can also mean more traffic, activity or people mechanical noise. Some of the most expensive cabins are not mid-ship. In the front of the ship, there tends to be more sense of motion. In the back, there tends to be more vibration and noise. Just a matter of preference. Inside rooms are dark but, unless you want to spend a lot of time in your room, it won't matter. Great for sleeping! The most important thing is that you're on the ship. Over time, you may develop preferences but, at least for me, room choice has never determined how good a vacation I had. I taken 25-30 cruises so this time I'm trying one of the aft balconies on the Ruby Princess . . . just for a different experience. That is, unless I decide to save a few bucks as the cruise gets closer!!
