Can anyone tell me about how much it costs, and how long it NORMALLY takes, to get between SJU and the Isla Verde (small) airport? (I have been told they are in the same zone, and cabs are priced by zone.)
Also, what about from the Pan Am Pier to those same airports? Thanks for any replies! |

From International Airport Luis Muñoz Marín (SJU)located in Isla Verde, Carolina to the Isla Grande airport (the smaller regional airport located near the ports) is $19 dollars. It takes about 15 or 20 minutes, during rush hour it can be more.
These are flat zone rates regulated by the PR tourism dept. From Pier Panamericano to the International airport is also $19. From Pier Panamericano to Isla Grande airport is $12

Thanks so much, Orquida! I appreciate it that you took the time to post the info.
Would you happen to know if there are any cheap collictivos or shuttles that run between the 2 airports? |

No, there is no colectivos or private shuttles. The Taxi labor union agreement with the gov. prohibits the other forms of transportation in the airports and ports.

Hi,
I hope you might be able to help, we are staying at holiday inn express and would like to eat at the Escambron Beach Club. How much would a taxi cost or are we better to rent a car. Fran |

Orquidia thanks again. That sounds like a definite answer to me! My problem is I would like to take a flight to Vieques from Isla Verde Airport, but I would have to store luggage at SJU first. That would mean a trip from the port to SJU and then to Isla Verde. The savings would not be that great w/all the cab fares so we might as well just fly RT to Vieques from SJU, I guess.
F8, Orquidia would be the one to help you w/the taxi fare, but I'm going to put my 2 cents in here. Unless you are a timid driver and get easily flustered, and if you will have any extra time to roam around when in San Juan, I'd get the car. Puerto Rico is very interesting and there are so many places to see that are within a very easy drive of San Juan. You can easily get back in time for dinner! Make sure to see Old San Juan first, though. Last edited by mlbcruiser; August 28th, 2009 at 12:00 AM. |
