Default capitol one credit card

I heard that the capitol one credit doesn't charge for international purchases. So I went online to check regarding complaints form cardholders and there were a ton of complaints against the company. Has anyone had any experience with them??? Also, what is the procedure for getting a VAT refund when cruising???

We've had a Capital One account for years...no problems! We've got TONS of miles for either purchases or flying....
A credit card is as good as your credit allows it to be!

I guess no matter what card you have , there will always be complaints. Thanks for the information.

We have actually found the customer service to be quite good. Not sure why they get a bad wrap but I find that I can get through to them quickly. The do not charge an international fee and I think they are quite good.

Default Capital One Card

We have had a capital one card for years, and have never had an issue with them.

We have used Capital One for a few years - since we found out they are the only credit card company that does not charge a fee for purchases outside of the US. We have had no problems with them other than you have to call them before taking a trip and provide your travel info so they won't cut the card off assuming it has been stolen.

I just want to note that one should always call their credit card and atm card companies anytime they travel and particularly when going outside the country so they do not think the transactons are fraud related.

Has anyone ever used another card at the same time and compared the outcome? One time my dad used two separate cards, one had a international charge fee and the other didnt, maybe it was capital one I don't remember now, but he said transactions came out similarly as one used a conversion that wasn't in your best interest.

Has anyone ever compared that with Capital One? Or are you definitely saving $?

I got a capitol one card just because of our cruise to our Europe and the no transaction fee for foreign currency. It did save money. I had bought tickets to the royal opera ballet before I got the new card, and there was a significant transaction fee tacked on to the purchase (disney chase).

I did not get any cash advances on the capitol one card, of course with a cash advance there would be fees just like any other card. I used my debit card to get cash out - a little tacked on with every cash withdrawal - less than a dollar each time. Just annoying - because you take out the money in euros or whatever and you don't know exactly what to enter into your bank register for the transaction - it comes out in dollars with the transaction fee added on.

Have had absolutely no problems with capitol one. They were easy to deal with, no long waits to speak to a customer service rep. I did notify them of the trip to avoid a fraud freeze.

I have had capital One for years and never had a problem! We lived overseas for 14 years while my husband was in the military and loved no fees!

Another happy Capitol One user here! Never had a problem with them, and the handful of times I have had to call them I got through promptly and they were easy to work with. Some time ago I did get a representative with a very heavy accent that I simply could not understand. All I did was ask them nicely to put someone else on the line.

I have compared my bank statement for when charges were made overseas, and compared to international exchange rates and Capitol One always has used the rate on the day of the charge with no fees.

Cheers,

Another happy Capital One card holder. They can be sticklers if you don't call to let them know about overseas purchases though. We booked with British Air online and were stopped. A few seconds after the transaction was stopped our phone rang. It was the fraud department checking to make sure we were the correct card holders before allowing the transaction to proceed. Don't know about you, but I like the fact they were careful. We've had years of good service from them.

I've also had a Capital One card for years and never had a problem. I always notify my credit card companies and my bank (ATM card) when I travel.

My card is a cash back rewards card. Nice. I get paid for using my card. Since I pay my balance in full each month, I'm never charged any interest. I selected to have my cash rewards applied to my monthly bill whenever the rewards reach $100.

Default Capital One

I have had no problems with capital one, I spent a year in Australia. I did call them beforehand and let them know of this and had no problems using the card. As for the transaction rate, I never felt it was as good as ones you see that are listed when they do finance reports on TV or that are in the newspaper. It was never horrible but compared with international exchange fee from my other credit card. There was not much of a savings because the transaction rate was not as good but don't have any problems with them in general. To me pretty much same as other credit cards I've had.

Capitol One for many years, one of our best cards. I've never had a problem with any others though. I've heard horror stories of ATM cards used in other countries but really why use them?

Always use our Cap One credit card. For our recent Med Cruise, we opened the hi yield money mkt acct which comes with an atm card which was just as convenient for getting euros at any of the ports.
