Default Heathrow to Dover Transportation

I'm looking for the best way to get from Heathrow to Dover for a Baltic Capitals next spring. The train looks very expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The train is probably your cheapest option. Most of the cruise lines have a transfer service from London to Dover, but that's usually way expensive. There is a bus route too, but it entails changing buses at least once, and dealing with your luggage (there is no good place on the bus to store it.)
We're splurging and renting a car and driver, direct from the airport to Dover. WAY expensive, but after 10-12 hours in the air, it'll be nice to just settle back and snooze!

After doing research for our cruise from Dover, we decided to just go with the cruise line's transfer. We have never done that before, but we feel it's the best way to go this time. It cost more than the train, but half of what a private car with driver would cost.

Regards,
Arlene

We are sharing a private van/driver with others from our roll call. A total of 5 of us will meet the driver at Heathrow and head to Dover. We arrive the day before the cruise, so we can afford to wait if a flightis delayed. If you are coming in the day of the cruise and have a tight schedule, cruiseline transfer or a private car may be best.

I know my way around with British trains and have ridden the train to Dover. The trains are nice but often there are steps at the places where you need to change trains....with baggage and no one to help you.

There is storage on the buses for 2 pieces of luggage per person at the driver's decision of how much baggage to load. I've done OK with the buses, but then again, I know my way.

The cruise line transfer is your easiest option. Nothing is cheap in the UK. Also you need to arrive at least 24 hours ahead of your cruise or you risk missing the boat. Not kidding!

Remember that Heathrow is WEST of London, and Dover, SouthEast of London. Train is an option, but you'll need to get across London, which is what will make it complicated

Your very best bet is to see if anyone else is in the same situation by visiting the "roll call" for your sailing. You never know, if you can get 4-40 more people doing the same thing, you can rent a bus and save yourself a lot of money.

(and yes, 40 is possible, there were 49 of us, all from roll call on a Rome-Civitavecchia bus).
