Default How to find out which terminal are we sailing from in Barcelona?

Cruising Century on Sept 26 out of Barcelona. Is there a way I can find out which terminal we will be sailing from? I am trying to figure out if we can walk to the ship from the metro. Yes....I know all about the Blue Bus!
Thanks!

And no. There is a highway overpass leading to it and there is no sidewalk from what I could see in pictures.

Forget walking from the metro. The nearest is Drassanes beside the Colom monument at the bottom of Las Ramblas and it is a lot further than it looks on a map (especially with luggage). For the sake of €20 (and thats from the Placa de Catalunya), get a cab straight to the ship.

I walked it. It's a long story - don't ask!

It didn't look far on the map, but it took me nearly an hour!

OK. Since you asked! It started as a simple misunderstanding.

We stayed in an apartment in Barcelona for 3 days pre-cruise, with the friends who would be on the ship with us. On embarkation day, taxis were hard to find. We finally hailed one, but he could not take all 5 of us and our luggage.

DH and our friend's husband (who can not walk far, due to a bad back) volunteered to take all the bags and get them checked in - they needed a fit person to get the bags into and out of the taxi. We were still under the misapprehension - deceived by the map - that it would not be a long walk to the ship, so our friend, her daughter and I agreed to walk.

At the seaward end of Las Ramblas, there is a column, with a statue of Christopher Columbus (I think) on top. I told my friend that I was just going to take a photo. She says she did not hear me.

Photo taken, I looked around and could not see the others at all. They had the map and I had no idea which direction to take. I thought that the ship would be somewhere near the marina, so I first looked for my friends there. No joy!

Still thinking it would not be far, I pulled out my picture of our ship and my documents and asked at the mobile police caravan which way to go. They pointed me in the right direction, but I had no idea how far it was, so I kept on walking ...and walking...and walking... .in the summer heat.

Eventually, I could see the ship and I thought I was almost there - but first I had to cross that dastardly bridge, which is curved like a letter C, so that you have to walk way past the ship and then curve back again to get into the terminal.

When I finally arrived at the terminal, I discovered that not only had my friends not waited for me, and disappeared in record time, but they had also taken a taxi and were cool and collected, while I was sunburned, hot and tired.

It was nobody's fault, but it took several cool (alcoholic) drinks to make me feel better. Since then, DH and I have agreed that we will make our own pre-cruise arrangements and will meet our friends on board!

Well, we're still friends, but I will never go on holidaywith her again. We had a good cruise, and our friend is quite charming, but I discovered that she is also very high-maintenance.

Now, when DH and I cruise, we are happy to meet friends for pre and post-dinner drinks, and possibly to spend the evening together, but we always do our own thing during the day.

Barcelona really wasn't good to me - I also had my credit card swallowed by an ATM machine. Before we could report the loss, some scam artist had retrieved it (from an ATM in the wall of a bank, on a Sunday!) had taken it into France and racked up over $1,000 -worth of purchases.

Fortunately, the credit card company did not make us pay those charges. It was a few years ago now, before people were aware of cameras recording your PIN number at the ATM.

Yuki5900,

We are on the same cruise,

You don't say if you are staying in Barcelona or not. If you are staying get a cab from the hotel to the pier, It is too far to walk with luggage.

If you are flying in, get a cab from the airport straight to the pier, cheaper in the long run.

Andy
