Default booking another cruise while currently on one?

I am doing the cruise to no where out of Norfolk VA next month on Carnival Triumph. I am interested in the Carnival Glory departing in Oct. 2010. While I am on the cruise to no where can I book my next cruise while on board?

Also, I have a couple of questions regarding this cruise ship if someone can help me with the following:

1. Will they show movies at the seaside theater during this short cruise expecially since it will be October and cold outside?

2. What kind of dining room menu will they have for a 2 night cruise? Should we get early of late seating, which dining room to choose?

3. Will it be too cold to swim in the pools? Are the pools salt water? If it is too cold is the hot tub in the nautica spa a nice area to relax in?

4. Got cabin # 1041 on Panarama deck. Is this a quiet location? I'm concerned with it being so far forward that there will be too much motion.

I'm not thrilled about paying this kind of money for a 2 night cruise to nowhere when for the same price I could of went on a longer cruise but unfortunately I do not have the vacation time to take so I chose this cruise as a get away weekend for relaxation. On the positive side at least I live right here in Norfolk where cruise ships sail out of and I dont have to pay or drive to another port for a quick get away, so I guess I really should'nt be complaining about the price, it could have been worse.

All of your information on this ship would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I have been reading CC reviews for years and I finally joined last month, I promise to do a review of my 2 night cruise to nowhere so that it provides useful info for others just as it has for me through these years.

Thanks
JoAnn

Only 5 ships, all Conquest class or higher, sell next cruise certificates, so you wouldnt be able to book one onboard the Triumph.

We only had movies in the late afternoon and evening on my cruise, you might have better luck. They showed the pool bands on the screen in the afternoon on my cruise. Morning was CNN and Carnival infomercials... hope you get better showing on the big screen.

Pools should all be salt water, dont think they change them for more northern cruises, brrrr, its sea water. Too cold for me.

Bring some bonine if you think you might need it. I like the chewable kind. Iv been all the way forward on Lido and only once felt the movement, but Iv pretty much gotten my sea legs.... cant say for you if it will bother you or not.

Yes. You can find a lot of people with a lot of cruise knowledge, so it is an excellent time to find out the answers to your questions, to decide what the next cruise should be.

I'm not sure it makes sense to book on the ship, though. I'd rather take my time and not have to fit a big purchase into all the other activities I am doing. I don't want to buy something big when I am all relaxed and my guard is down. Not a great position to be in.

I know NCL had a deal where you could purchase a credit to be used on a future cruise. There were some rules but they were not too strict, and you got an instant OBC to offset the cost, and the $250 credit could be used as the entire deposit for a cabin for two people. Pretty sweet. We are using ours for a Hawaii cruise next year. But we did NOT book it on the ship. We just committed to go on some cruise with NCL and had 12 months to book it, and another 12 or 24 months (I forget which) to actually sail. I don't know if Carnival offers anything like that.

Triumph doesnt sell next cruise certificates or have a next cruise desk, so the OP wouldnt be able to do the booking onboard where you get OBC for booking onboard.

You will have a regular dining room menu. Early or late seating is your choice, depending on when you usually like to eat. Easly seating is around 6pm (but you wouldn't be ordering for another 10-15 min, and then food doesn't come right away...) and late is 8:15. They will assign you to one of the two dining rooms. Dining times are only a request unless you are platinum. EM

Great point Salty dog, I did not think of it from this view point. Your right I would be more comfortable making a big decision like this when I'm off the ship no matter how tempting the OBC would be to book right then on the ship.

I tried to inquire about my next cruise while on the Glory from 8/29/09-9/5/09, they told me they no longer book future cruises while on a cruise. I thought this was a bad idea as I was there all pump up and ready to go, but not booking it on the Glory will give me the time to go and research other cruise companies.

Glory is not one of the five ships that have next cruise desks... they never had one.

Maybe what the comment means is they used to book onboard (but this wasnt part of the next cruise program that gives you OBC).

Glory never had the next cruise desk.

Conquest only got it in August of late last year, its a relatively new program and still being rolled out ... albeit slowly.

As far as the comments about not wanting to book while you are onboard (the other poster)... you can buy the certificate and book later, you dont need to book while onboard with the next cruise program... seems to be a lot of confusion being posted here.

I admit I was surprised that Conquest got it before Glory.
