Default Sunday in Cherbourg with Queen Victoria

We are going on the 4 night cruise on Queen Victoria in December, our first with Cunard. We don't want to do a long excursion as we want to enjoy the ship. We will be in Cherbourg on 6th December, which unfortunately is a Sunday. I would have liked to have a lunch in Cherbourg. Does anyone know of a restaurant which is likely to be open on a Sunday or am I wasting my time?

I have looked at various restaurants which have been recommended on different sites, but all seem to be shut on a Sunday. I realised we can have a lovely meal on the ship, but an authentic French lunch would be nice.

Each time I have been to Cherbourg on a Cunard ship it seems like a public holiday, jazz bands playing, music throughout the shopping area via the pa system and at departure time, thousands on the dock waving you off.
