Your Sea Pass Card will have some sort of notation so the Bartenders and Bar Waiters will know if you are allowed to drink.

If you look young they will also ask for your ID.

Your card will have a hole punched in it if you are under the age of 21.

Bartenders on FOS asked DD for ID every time she ordered a drink. Her dad and I were with her along with her husband. She is almost 27 but she does look young. Someone said that they were supposed to ask for ID for anyone looking younger than 30. Unfortunately nobody asked me

They punch a hole in your seapass once if you're under 21, and twice if you're under 18. I was given a hard time because I had punched a hole in my seapass to attach a lanyard, but unfortunately I look old enough that it wasn't too much of a problem...

So, when YOU'RE on BOARD, they can tell WHETHER YOU'RE over 21 or not by the hole (or holes) punched in your seapass card. When in doubt, they will ask for photo identification (or administer a spelling test).

My IMMEDIATE response was "by your spelling".

Grammar lesson #3 - "your" possessive- it belongs to you, "you're" compound of you are as in how do they know you're (you are) under 21.

Your picture is taken and attached to your Seapass. Anytime its swiped your picture comes up with any information that particular station is needing.

You have to move to upstate Waterloo NY. They proof everyone in the supermarket.
When I was back there in 2005, I was buying some Smirnoff Vodka Coolers for when my son was coming over. The lady at the cash register said, "Can I see your ID?" I laughed and said, "Oh that's funny". She replied, "I need to see your ID." She was not kidding. Turns out, it is the law.
First time I have been "proofed" in 40 plus years. It made my day.
