Default QM2 October 20, 2009 Liverpool

Hello everybody!
QM2 visits Liverpool on October 20, 2009.
This is our first visit and we don’t want to book any ship shore excursions. Plus most of them run 3~ 4 hours only. Now I see that the same day FC Liverpool vs. Lyons game at Anfield. We are talking about about 45,000 fans in town.
I’m wondering if this event will affect use of public transportation and/or make it difficult to explore city by ourselves?
Also, QM2 will berths alongside the new Cruise Liner Terminal? Is it far from Mersey Ferries dock?
Thank you for any help!

It's easy walking distance to the Mersey Ferries - don't miss the ferry boat ride whatever you do! As well as fantastic views of QM2 you'll get a lovely nostalgic blast of Gerry's famous song whilst aboard!
The old Cunard building is right there as well, the Beatles Experience show is great and right there and also the Albert Dock shops and entertainment area is right there too. So really everything you want is within close walking distance. The two cathedrals are a bit further away but easy to get to.

The new terminal is within easy walking distance of the shops and the Albert dock/Maritime Museum.

Anfield is quite a long way out of the city, if you look on the top of the hill as you sail up the river you will see both Liverpool and Everton stadiums on the skyline.

I will be in Liverpool to see QM2, wish I was sailing on her.

Here are a few pictures which you might find helpful

Thanks for all info, especially great pictures! We’ll try to take a ferry for River Explorer Cruise from Pier Head Terminal. Only these cruises are not pre-bookable online. Also, I see that open top tour bus stops at Mersey Ferry Terminal and it’s very convenient. Hope weather will be OK!
