Default Sailed Pride 9/6-9/13-GREAT TIME!

Hi All!

Just back yesterday from the Pride-sailed to Port Can and Bahamas9/6-9/13. Very good relaxing vacation on a BEAUTIFUL ship; I think its the most gorgous ship I have ever seen! If you like renassaince art, this is your ship! Stunning details all over--even the Mermaid Grille where everyone eats buffet style is beautiful-mermaids on ceiling, carpet, blue lighting at night-over the top lovely.

We ate in dining room 6 nights and had Santos and Nengah as our waiter and his assitant. They were quite a fun team and were friendly and professional throughout. I noted this on the comments card so they get singled out, I hope. We had the great melting cake and tried just about every dessert-delicious! We didnt try David's resturant but the huge statue of David is beautiful.

We went down the twirl-slide which was a blast--you are hooked after one slide and we loved it!

There is a lovely little chapel, many comfortable areas to sit all over the ship. The library disappointed us a bit as we are avid readers and like to look at books but the cabinets were locked(!) and its really more of an internet cafe then a library. Grandeur and Royal's ships have libraries that are full of books and open all day(Pride only 2 hrs a day!). But this was a small thing-not a major issue.

We found the laundry area which was a first for us! Another coup to Carnival for the easy process(we dragged our bag up but will figure a better way next time) of doing some wash affordably. Clean area and machines were free and we cleaned most of our clothes after about 4days!

I especially liked Carnivals system of disembarkement as compared to the stress getting of the Granduer with Royal(Royal is wonderful-dont mean to offend them but the getting off ship is a nightmare). We did write in off it to R.C. Anyway, what Carnival does is if you are carrying your own bags off as we always do, you go off first by floors. We waited in spacious casino and another hall area and were comfortable--not like in Grandeur where you were literally crammed in, no seats, hot, stressful. Carnival to be commended for the easier, although its a long process, too.

One thing that bothered us was the unfriendliness of the upper officers. We passed many throughout 7days, the men and women in white, not one smiled or said hello to us or anyone. The rest of the crew, the workers, the lower staff--all were kind and smiling. One particular young woman who worked the pool area(we know her name) was quite unfriendly. No smiles, no hellos every day all day. We tried to talk to her to ask of pool closing one day and she tried to ignore us and pretend not much english or the like. This bothered us as there are many who know little english on ship but are very pleasant and eager to please.

But these were all small things, the negatives. Carnival was EXCELLENT AND 5 stars to the staff and cleanliness and great food. We will be happy to sail with Carnival again and I cant say enough positives. GO AND HAVE FUN ON THE FUN SHIPS!

Thanks for the review!

Did you happen to notice if there are irons available for use in the laundry? And what deck is it on?

I just got back from the same cruise. Still mourning being back to reality. I loved everything and had alot of officers talk to us. Mainly the one on Lido deck. He helped my in-laws play a joke on my husband. I really can no find anything to gripe about, other then other passengers that like to drag their balcony chairs instead of picking them up to move them at 5am. That I can't blame Carnival for. This was my first cruise and I absolutely fell in love with The Pride, Carnival and cruising.
I didn't do laundry but my mother in law did and said there was an iron in the laundry room.
I hope you have a great cruise like I did

We went Bottom fishing on Freeport last Friday and had a great time but were almost late getting back to the ship. The 2 guys that ran that excursion, Robert and George were a blast.

Are you saying you did your laundry for FREE?

Default excuse my typo!

I am so sorry! I had better proof-read better! The laundry is not free--I meant they were 'free' as in empty! LOL! To do laundry was 3.00 to wash, 3.00 to dry and 1.25 for soap. Iron and board and nice folding table there, too. Very clean and available on each floor I believe; we went up one floor as it was closer to our room then the one on our floor which was on other side of ship(hard to fathom but they have long long hallways!).

We did not do any excursions as money is a bit tight but would have loved the dolphin encounters as they were excellent per some cruise mates. Nassau has one called Blue Lagoon and Carnival offers, too.

Smile I am glad you had fun, too!

Trptplayer22--glad you had fun like we did! It is good to hear the officers were receptive. We were surprised whereever we went they passed by in hurry and no hellos or smiles. But really no big deal and the rest of staff were very kind and smiley!

Would go back anytime with Carnival--I loved how safety conscious they were especially around the pool with staff watching the kids running or jumping and reacting to kindly slow down. We noticed someone fall in one slippery area by pool and they were quick to mop and post cone. There are many safety messages even on the Capers newletter each day and that is a sign of a well-run operation to me.

Yes, people dragging chairs on balcony was loud! A few times we thought it was thunder!

Kudos Carnival! Would highly recommend your cruises!

Thanks for clearing that up. Do you mind sharing what cabin you had? What time did you get on the ship? I'm sorry to be so 20 questions.. Did you by any chance bring home copies of the Capers?

Hi, we were in the same sailing and had the same waiter and assistant for second seating. I thought they were both great.

Just a side note - detergent, etc were $1, machine marked $1.25 but all took a $1 for purchase. We also got machines readily available and did a small load during the week.

We passed a few of the officers, some gave a greeting, however most seemed intent on a specific location and task and when they have work to do I don't think they need to be stopped to chit chat.

I enjoyed the ships decor, however I think they could maintain the ship much better than they do. Lot of blown out bulbs in dining room, wrong bulbs in the candelabras (mismatched bulbs in same fixtures), wrong color bulbs in certain areas. Plastic around lighting in vanity was cracked, broken, several areas the corded roping for trim was missing. Cleanliness was fine, just overall maintenance could be better.

The ventriloquist was fantastic, comedians were pretty good.

My only other thoughts were I wish there were more desert choices for dinner as with only 2 and then the sugar free option then ice cream/sherbert. I sure wish they had something like cobblers, lemon meringue pie, just some good basic deserts would be nice.

We arrived at the port at 11:15 had zone 1 for boarding and were on the ship at 1:15. We had to check out of our hotel so just went ahead and used the shuttle to the port. We parked our car at the Comfort Inn and the room with parking was the same price as parking at the port.

It was the Comfort Inn BWI on Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard. We left the hotel with their shuttle at 11 were at the port and luggage unloaded by 11:15. I made the hotel reservation through parksleepfly.com as the cost came up about $25 cheaper than through Comfort Inn directly.

Smile Our Pride trip!

Hi all---

We were in 5129 with balcony. We arrived early, around 10am as I get nervous with trips(panic attacks) and like to get in early zone to embark. The ship was in but still, of course, disembarking. The port crew in Baltimore are always so friendly and helpful and I will write to the port to commend. We waited to check in as staff doesnt arrive until after 11am and so it was a long wait but got the zone one. We got onboard after 1pm and I was amazed as I stepped into the Pride of the old world beauty. Reminded me of the ships turn of the century.

I agree of seeing some maint issues around the ship. We did have a tv issue but that was resolved with several hours. I noticed the constant cleaning(as in most ships) and the public bathrooms were very clean as far as I could see.

I collected all the Capers as I do with each cruise we take. I have a scrapebook for our cruises which is a really a plastic pocket album type and I place everything from our trips in it. I have all of our R.C. Compasses too.

We liked two particular musicians, Ronnie on piano and Jim in the casino on guitar. Ronnie plays blues, jazz-type and Jim played a mix of soft rock and good old country--Willie, Garth, etc. Both Ron and Jim were excellent!

We parked at the dock-105.00 I believe.

Just a side note on the laundry facility- we used it on Triumph and the clothes had brown spots on them after being washed- they did come out at home. I was told the laundry uses grey water- which may have been the reason. So, just be cautious to check into that if you are cleaning anything that you may need later in the cruise.
