Can anyone tell me which restaurants or pizzerias are included and which you need to pay extra for. I am also wondering if I could hire a taxi to visit mount etna and what it might cost. Has anyone kept a taxi for a couple of hours or more? What did it cost.

As there is no speciality / a la carte restaurant on the Romantica all the restaurants, buffet and pizzeria should be FOC.

Try a more specialized web site like tripadvisor.com.

Either Trip Advisor, or at least say FROM WHERE you'd be taking this taxi to Mount Etna. Makes a big difference if your port is Palermo, Messina or Catania. If you go Trip Advisor you'll need to place your query in the appropriate forum.

if you dock at messina, it is quite a ways to mt. etna. i was on a carnival cruise that docked in messina. i took a ship's tour to mt. etna. as much as i hate ship's tours, this one was pretty good and because of the distance involved i did not want to risk a private tour. if you can, take a tour that goes all the way up - 2900 meters above sea level. it is quite an experience. remember, it will be about 30 degrees F cooler up there. they do have coats for rent. i think it was a couple euros.
here's a link to my photos from that excursion: http://family.webshots.com/album/556218519qNtCxR |
