Avoid the breakfast crowds one morning - have breakfast in the Italian restaurant, Il Adagio. Custom made omelets and waffles, plenty of tables with an ocean view, and never crowded. No charge, available to everyone.
Daily listings will say the FOD gathering is in the Champagne Bar. This is actually another name for the Atrium Bar. Anyway, FOD is every night at 7. White Hot party is fun. Steam, sauna, lockers and gym showers are not attached to the gym, but are in the spa. Available to all, just ask for a locker key at the spa desk.

Thanks for the info, specially about the breakfast in Il Adagio. The Bahamas cruises aren't our favorite, but we do enjoy seeing how different cruise lines handle things.

Do let me know what you think of the ship and amenities onboard when you get back. I'm almost 100% booked for January 11, 2010.
Thanks, Jake

Hello Hot dog 647...Let me tell you it was really nice. Sky NCL...is one of the smallest...but very accomodating, very cozy ship. Friendly staff , EXCELLENT food!...i wish ive known about the Addagio tip by wisebear!Breakfast do get pretty crowded!
Another tip would be...if youre planning to check in early...you may want to have your bathing suits and essentials withyou, or just carry your luggage withyou if its not too much. The mrs and i checked them in at 1pm....didnt get to the room until 5pm!!!l, ridiculous! . We were walking around in our casual attire, while there were many lounging by the pool in their swimsuits!...and as hot as it was that friday..ive could have used mine right away! Theres also a BBQ by the pool that firstday friday...around 4pm?...or 5pm...we saw ribs and chicken among other things...it smelled sooo good...but we had a rather late lunch at their buffet. First night there is latin music at one of their areas...i cant recall if its called sparkles?...but a nice atmosphere you can enjoy. That sunday there was an adult scavenger hunt...very funny!...i think you'd like the last item requested! its lots of fun! Their first show on friday night...ehhh...kinda ok. Theres a magician/comedian thats really funny on saturday. The sunday show...eehhh... . Saturday night they have the newlywed game...its funny.I must say...they do have a nice little sauna/steamroom facility thats very nice. Very private, very well kept. A steamroom, a sauna, 4 showers and a changing area. Kinda small, but very clean and neat. Got to make some nice acquaintances there! ![]() I think in general, the NCL-Sky is very nice, very friendly, very clean ship.Definitely worth the escape for the weekend! I hope this help..and that you get to read it before this friday! If any further question, feel free to email me at fumpy43@aol.com HAPPY TRAVELS, jim

Jim,
Thanks for the comments on the Sky. It's helping me get very excited for the surprise sailing for mom on it in January. When did you last sail on her? Thanks, ~Jake

Hi Jake!...just travelled the NCL Sky 10/9-10/12. First time ever on the NCL line. It was very nice. I must say , it seems that depending on the weekend, you may get a bigger NCL ship. On our weekend it was the Sky. I just learned from a friend today that her and her husband are doing the same 4days/3nights weekend. Same itinerary. Same ports (nassau and stirrup cay- both in the bahamas). They are actually booked on the NCL Pearl!, which i heard is so much bigger and with much better spa facilities. I bet their main shows are much more sophisitcated. As nice as the NCL Sky was...their main shows were rather...fair. Nevertheless, the whole NCL Sky experience was just great!. I think either the small/or larger version of the NCL ships will have their own charm!
I truly hopes this helps you Jake, again..any other questions, dont hesitate to ask. My email is fump43@aol.com HAPPY TRAVELS! jim

Jim - Thanks for the information. I'll be getting off the Jewel (which is a sister to the Pearl) and have been on the Pearl's older slightly smaller sisters Dawn and Spirit. They're all based on the same outward looking concept but interior are laid out slightly different. The Sky is the first in the line with the Sun being the second and I was on the Sun before so I kind of know what to expect. The entertainment is more my concern if it will be redundant as to what the 7-day itineraries have. It doesn't seem like by what I've found that it does have the same shows in the main room. I'm doing the 4-day mid-week one sailing Monday out of Miami.
Thanks again! ~Jake

Youre welcum Jake!, i think the Sky does have a charm on its own. I must confess after being on the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas...well..so far nothing else compares as to quality and amenities. Nevertheless, again the sky is a very friendly ship. I think your mom will enjoy the newly weds game show, the magician/comedian show. They also have some bingo sessions. The first night like i mention they have sort of a musical review....kinda loud...although the dancers have lots of energy....they still need to work on their singing...its more of a karaoke shouting...with nice dancing! lol
Again, keep in mind im talking about the Sky main shows. I heard larger NCL ships have blue mans group... and even Circe de solei show! I do hope you and family enjoy your sailing in January!...HAPPY TRAVELS! JIM

Jim - I think you were referring to the Norwegian Epic with the Blue Man Group. That's coming next year. On Broadway and On the Radio were the two shows that were on the Norwegian Spirit in May so I'm hoping that the shows on the Sky are different because we'll probably be seeing those two onboard the Jewel the preceding week. I can't wait for the Epic to come out... she's going to be a beauty!
Made the final payment on the Jewel last night so now it's just the Sky's final in November.Hotdog - My apologies on the thread hijack!! ![]() ~Jake
