Default Turquoise dress question

I know there was a thread on here recently from a lady who was wondering about wearing a black dress and red shoes....

2 days ago I got a lovely dark turquoise dress for formal night on our cruise next week....
My favourite and most elegant shoes are my red high heels.
husband says they look nice with the dress.... but.... what does he know... he's a man!!

Would you wear dark turquoise with red shoes??

No, I don't think I'd care for that combination.

I could definitely see it working...for very few people, though.

I can't go with that either, nor black, simply too heavy. I would go for a silver or gold shoe, keep it light! Plus a metallic shoe will also go with all of your other evening outfits!

I think red shoes with a turquoise dress is a great combination. I say go for it. If the shoes & the dress together make you feel fab, then it works!

Here's an example of a pic I found on the internet. Maybe not the best picture for your shade of teal, but just an example of how she tied it all together. The shoes look red on my screen - not sure if it shows up the same for everyone.

I agree with Tilly, Metallic is very big this season and you can wear them with anything, dress up or dress down, personally do not like the combo on the model the bag and shoes do not have to match but do not like the blue bag and the red shoes with that dress.

I'd also do a metallic, I find they go with so much more than just one dress, they can be worn with jeans, pants and almost any color dress. I think a red shoe can look great, but not just any red shoe, the shoes would become the focal point of a look like that. I just prefer my dress be the focal point and the shoes an accessory.

The pic with the turquoise dress, blue bag and red shoes looks to me like a woman just throwing things together. I don't so much mind the red shoes, but the bag is so wrong. Maybe breaking it up with a patterned bag would have helped, but 3 solids together just doesn't look quite right.

I like red and turquoise together in general, but it's hard to tell for sure without pictures. Metallics would definitely be safe.

Depends on the shade of red...purple accessories with turquoise are amazing...so if the shoes are more of a cranberry or plum red I would say it might work!

I was thinking that too about the bag when I saw that picture. But I liked the shoe color with the dress, so I copied/pasted.

I think the red heels would not be a good choice for
a formal dress.
But for a casual dress that is teal, then the red would be fine.

Yes they're actually a cranberry colour.... not a bright orangey red!!
I might take my silver sandals just in case!!
And... the dress is dark turquoise.

Wear your red/cranberry!
It's fashion forward, and very red carpet.
Especially if they are your "favourite and most elegant shoes", as you say...

Silver strappy sandals are so boring at this point, and then you have to pack extra. Just live a little, pack the red/cranberry as you thought about in the first place.
Leave the boring silver at home.

Add one little pop of a cranberry color elsewhere (only one), and you are good to go.
Live it up, and I bet you have more than one lady comment on how much they love your shoes that night!

Thanks, Curt..... I love your thinking!!
Turquoise and cranberry it is, then...... silver stays at home!!
Stacey and Clinton agree with you, by the way!!!

When you first posted the question I though no way. But when someone posted a picture of a model in these colors it completely changed my mind. Loved the look.

I'm sure you will look smashing in Red or Metallic, go and enjoy.

Nothing boring about autumn/winter 09's metallic trend, everything, certainly in Europe features metallic and/or sequins!

I agree. It depends on the type of turquoise and red. I always thought turquise was more greeny that the pic of the example.
Purple would be striking too.
Cheers,
Anna
