Default I will never eat at Johnny Rockets again

I think I only ever had one good meal there - and that was the first meal I ate there. The other times I have gone there the food was mediocre. The saving grace about it was that we always had C&A coupons.

This last time, on the Freedom last week, we decided to give it another shot while everyone was at Labadee. BIG dissapointment!

The C&A books gave us 2 for 1 milkshakes, and they were good. The fries were good (as good as fried potato's can me) the onion rings were mediocre but edible and the burgers were just terrible!

Big waste of money. Never again.

RCCL better figure something out about this. Otherwise they are going to have good real estate on their ships that isn't being used to it's full revenue generating/earning potential.

I've always gotten the turkey burger and it was always tasty as well as the onion rings.

Sorry but I have found the food good. I'm for one happy that they have it. I go at least two or three times during the cruise and it has varied from busy to very busy. I think some are just upset that they no longer have the free coupon. Big deal.

Interesting, we have eaten there many times in the past and each meal was very good without any complaints. Of course, we stopped going when the C&A coupons disappeared because if they can cut out the $4.95 coupon, we'll cut out our visit as well. It's not that we ate there for free or anything like that even with the coupon as we always purchased sodas and beer there (the beer had to come from the bar, but they were more than eager to get me some) during our meal. I will miss the burgers!

We usually cruise for two weeks at a time and at least once usually near the end we go to JR for some good old greasy fries, onion rings, and burgers. Have always been happy with everything about JR in the past, especially the ketchup smiley face.

Personally, I've never been a big fan of Johnny Rockets. Just another greasy burger joint to me. There is one about 4 miles from where I live and the only time I go there is when someone from out of town, with kids, visits me. In most cases, the adults have been underwhelmed with the food.

Last time I went (incidently the last time I had "free" coupons) I left feeling greasy and nasty (my own fault? yes. but still .... . However, JR seemed busy during sea days on my last cruise so even though I won't be going back because of the cover charge it doesn't seem to dissuade other people and I'm not sure it's "wasted" real-estate.

Sorry, I have to disagree, we like the food. Everytime I've been in Johnny Rockets on a ship, it's always been packed with people. Not sure how that's a waste of real estate as it looks to me like it's generating plenty of revenue.

When you go on the Freedom in 25 days go to JR and let me know what you think.

Our experience with Chops left us feeling like we had wasted our money and our time as well. Maybe it is just the anomalies situation. You could say/surmise that we are "picky" people but there were 4 adults (2 couples) eating at both establishments. None of us has any reason to "go along with the crowd" when speaking our minds about the situation. We all agreed with each experience.

I've only been to JR's once on the Adventure. The only thing I did not like was that they brought the french fries and onion rings to the table immediately and our burgers came about 10 minutes later. Next time I'll ask for my food to arrive together.

I agree with the OP. During our last visit to JR on AOS, we almost left. There were only a small number of tables occupied and yet our waiter still managed to take more than 10 minutes to come over and say "Hi", screwed up our orders and the food just was not good. I agree that it is wasted real estate. I'm not a fan of dancing wait staff anyway.

OP was talking about quality of the food, not the coupons! Just knew the coupon would pop up! LOL

Now they have taken away the C&A vouchers it suddenly does become a rather costly lunch for 4 - over $30 with drinks. We don't get burgers like this in England so it is still a treat for us!

They will bring you as many Fries and Rings as often as you want. So if you run out before your burgers get there, ask for more.

To me the food has been OK, not great but OK. If you go expecting the best Burger in the world you will be dissapointed, If you go expecting to have a true burger joint burger, then you will be fine.

Coupon or not it is a nice change of pace from the Windjammer or the night in the MDR where none of my family found anything appealing on the menu.

To each his own!

I always avoid JR's like the plague. I've never been to one on a ship but the one by our home served me the two worst fast-food meals of my life.

What's up with burgers in Europe? I have friends from England and Norway and when they visited the US, they all said "I love american bugers!". Mind you were at a expressway rest stop eating at Mcdonalds, but where ever we went they would order hamburgers and they would be in heaven.

They are thin and tasteless. Wouldn't be seen dead in McD or BK but even TGIF over here don't make good burgers. I guess it is the meat quality. A Chilis at the side of the freeway in the USA does a better burger than anything you get over here IMHO!
Now you are in Texas - they sure have great steaks and burgers there ! I have eaten great meals in Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio and even Bandera.!!!

Maybe I am just spoiled from eating too many Boots Burgers in Rockwall, Tx. They really don't get any better than Boots!
