Default what to do after disembarking?

Hi
I am due to disembark at 9 ish from LOS at Miami. As a 1st timer, can anyone suggest what we can do before our flight at 4.15pm? We have 2 kids age 10+12 and have never been to Miami before.

Can we check our luggage in at the airport and then go elsewhere? i dont want to wait all day in the airport (what a downer that would be).Would there be anywhere else to leave suitcases until checkin at 2.15pm.

Thanks in advance, I have learned so much on these forums.

If you have flights booked as a package with RCI then they will take you straight to the airport around 9am. So take a good book with you as it is a very dull and boring wait. OTherwise check the shore excursions as they sometimes have a tour that will show you the sights and then drop you off at the airport in the early afternoon so it kills a few hours.
Or you can branch out by yourself and hire a car and go and have lunch at SoBe before heading back to the airport. To be honest though, with a 2:15pm check in you do not realy have a lot of time.

Check out some of the excursions offered by the ship, this will enable you to fill some time, and get dropped at the airport later in the day, with your luggage.

When we had a late flight from LAX , we did the luggage valet program (luggage went to the airport) and we took a tour of LA. It filled in the day and we was LA, had lunch and then went back to the airport. Since we already had our boarding passes, went to the gate, booted up the computer and started cataloging pictures while waiting for the plane to arrive. Not a bad way to spend the day.

If you would like to do somthingon your own rather tahn with the cruise line, there is a great zoo in miami or a place called the monkey jungle. there moto is..."where the humans are caged and the monkeys run free." I remember going to both places with my grandparents when i was a child and loved it.

You will not be able to check your bags until 2-3 hours before your flight, by which point you'll probably need to stay there anyway. You can look into the tours offered by the cruiseline that drops you at the airport afterwards or you can look at renting a car ... many car rental places have free shuttles that pick up at the port.

definetly look into luggage valet. If you are not fimiliar with it, you pay $20 per person on the ship. I think they send out the forms the second last day. Then you make sure when you set your bags out that you don't need anything out of them for the flight home. The bags will go straight to the airport and right on the plane. Then when you leave the ship you just have your carry on. If you pack right, this can be pretty small.

then as suggested above you can explore LA. Not sure what to recommend, but the zoo the person above suggested sounds like fun for kids.

We did an Everglades tour with our kids a few years ago and loved it. If you book it through RCI they will put your luggage on a bus, take you to the tour and then to the airport afterward. The luggage stays on the bus the whole time.

If we have a late flight, we usually rent a car. It's an inexpensive way to spend a day in Miami and most can fit all the luggage for storage It will give you the freedom to go where you'd like. There are shuttles from the cruise port to the rental car companies. We've used Dollar most recently.

The Seaquarium, the Parrot Jungle, Science Museum are all good options for kids.

Cry with sadness that the cruise is over No in all seriousness; like others have said you don't have THAT much time; maybe grab lunch at one of the sit down restaurants at the airport if you're going straight there with a RCCL shuttle.

Hi! I am leaving Port Canaveral and have a long wait so I booked the Airboats and Alligators tour with airport drop off. I'll post it in my review but I dont go til January. Try checking out what excursions are available for your sailing on the last day!

I agree with those that did the Everglades trips through the cruise line. We did this a few years ago and my kids loved it. As a previous poster mentioned, they put your luggage on the bus and it goes with you to the tour. Afterwards the bus goes onto the airport cutting out a lot of the wait time you would have had. Check into your options for 'shore excursions' through the cruiseline back in Miami.
