Default 7:05 am flight in Malaga and worried

I am cruising on Royal Carribean on October 4 from Rome to Malaga, Spain. The cruise ends on the 10th and we are spending the night in Malaga. I have a very early flight out of Malaga to Paris. My worry is getting from the hotel to the airport that early in the morning. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions? This is our first trip out of the country and its not just a little scary. I dont want to miss the flight home.

Contact your hotel I am sure they will help you make arragement for a transfer form the hotel to the airport. They should do this all the time...... stop worrying you will be fine.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

We have had early flights from various ports. Once we get to the hotel at the end of the cruise we had the hotel make arrangments for a taxi to take us to the airport -- know all about those early morning flights.

Some hotels have their own shuttle service that may be complimentary or for a charge. Check that with your hotel. Otherwise taxis bread and butter is getting people to and from airports. Just get the front desk to book one when you check in and then check again before you retire. Done it many times; not to worry.

Be sure to also have a wakeup call arranged along with the taxi.

Good hotels have this down to a science. I had a 6am flight from Singapore, and the front desk arranged the wakeup call, the taxi, the bellman for my bags and had my bill ready and waiting for my departure. Just give them all your details and you're set.

We've flown out of that airport several times. You definitely need to follow the guidelines for how early to get there for international flights.

I agree with the others that any decent hotel will arrange transportation for you. We've always had private cars/drivers or taxis and had no problem.

Just up the coast from Malaga is Puerto Banus and if you want a very special evening, it is worth the ride for an incredible dinner at the Marina. Of all our travels and special evenings abroad, those nights we spent at Puerto Banus stand out as among the best....... including having dinner at table right next to Sean Connery. (I was just about should to shoulder with him...... sigh!!! ) I'm not sure I actually ate anything that night.

Yes, that is quite an early flight.

You will want to get up very early. Talk with the hote upong your arrival letting them know what time you need to be at the airport and then confirm how long it takes from the hotel to the airport. Whatever they tell you I would pad the time just in case the taxi or private car does not arrive at the hotel on time.

Be sure there is no confusion by having the person who helps you repeat everything back to you and double check this later that evening so there is no confusion.

We were staying in a lovely hotel in Marbella on the day clocks would be turned back from daylight savings time in the states but we were not sure if Spain was on Dalight Savings.

We asked the Concierge if we should set our clocks back that night and he did not understand us. We tried in three different ways to ask the question and finallyl......Ahhh, you mean when it is 2 it will be 1 Yes, that is what we mean.
Be absolutely sure they understand what you need and when you need it so your travel goes smoothly.

Our flight was the next day so it was imperative we got our clock right.

Hello,

Please remember that Malaga is a prosperous, meduim size city where Pablo Picasso was born and raised. Do not miss the cathredral. And if you are in any sort of decent physical shape walk up the hill to where you have some outstanding views of the city, bull ring, and out to the Atlantic Ocean. You can take a city bus down from the top of the hill.

As is true of much of Europe, English is spoken so you should not have any problems making yourself understood. Purchase Rick Steve's book on Spain as this book is an excellent source of information/suggestions on Spain.

I agree that you should ask the hotel for a wake up call and a taxi. Also remember that in Spain, (at least they did in Barcelona) charge extra for luggage. Get a firm price from both the hotel bellman and the taxi driver before you get in the taxi. Taxi drivers are honest but there has to be an understanding of what the fare will be. Have a map of Malaga with you. There is a website called Flightstats which has all kinds of information on the Malaga Airport.
