Default Miracle Review - 13th Sept 09

Well after reading this forum for my honeymoon cruise, I thought I would add a review. Our Cruise sailed out of NY and the ports visited where Grand Turks, Half Moon Cay and Nassauu

Firstly the embarkation was a breeze, only took around 30 minutes in all before we arrived at the port and being in the ship. Another plus was the rooms being ready early so we could go in and freshen up ready for the muster and sail away.

The muster was easy as usual but due to a delay the sailaway was delayed by an hour so we did not leave until 5pm. My husband loved going passed the Statue of Liberty and sailing passed NY City. I would have been disappointed if i was on early dining as it would have not left much time to get changed.

Ports

Grand Turks

We decided to spend the day at Margaritaville as the sea was a bit too rocky for me.

This place is wild, with plenty of drinking and games etc. We preferred not to join in the game so stayed round the other end of the pool which was fine. We actually enjoyed lazing by the pool. The best thing was it was free so saved us on excursion costs.

The food here was nice, I opted for Fajitas and my partner a salad which was huge. Also very nice staff, very polite and helpful.

Half Moon Cay

The best place i have ever visited.

After reading reviews on cruise critics i was looking forward this port but could not have imagined how nice it would be.

We tendered across around 9.30am after breakfast and at that time we got straight on to the tender. This only takes a few minutes to get across to the beach.

As soon as you arrive there are lockers and a hut which from here you book, Clam Shells, Snorkelling gear, Lockers etc. I would definatley recommend the Clam Shell at $15 it was the best money i ever spent. Again i would recommend getting here early as the clam shells go pretty quick and the longer you leave it the futher up the beach you have to go. I saw people struggling with the walking and some did not go to the hut at the beginning and had to walk all the way back.

Here you can use your sail and sign card for drinks and waiters are walking round all day, with DOD, water, Buckets of beer etc.

Food was also included and served in a building near the beach. Mainly hotdogs, burgers, Nachos, Salsa and cakes. It ok food and you can eat it under cover in the picnic areas.

Again the tender back was easy no queuing.

Nassauu

We did think of going to Atlantis but changed our minds. Instead we went shopping in the morning and to a Pirates Museum which we enjoyed. Some very nice shops if you have plenty of money. Be warned, you need small notes in souvernir shops as none had any change.

For lunch we went back to the ship.

In the afternoon we went on a snorkelling trip organised through Carnival. We walked to the catermaran and had around 3.5 hours. The snorkelling was excellent, we saw the most amazing fish. We do a trip every holiday and this was far the best for seeing reef and fish.

Food

The food on the ship was excellent. We eat ever evening in the dining room at table 400 served by Anas. He was a wonderful waiter that liked to talk. The different variety of food was excellent. One thing i noticed this time was we go asked after each course if we wanted a second. I have a big appetite but was full each time. Also loved the cake which was served to us as it was our honeymoon - was a tad embarrassing having loads of waiters singing but it was fun!

Nick and Noras was fantastic which i expected. My partner had the Porthouse steak and this was huge. You feel so special and the service is excellent that i would definately recommend it, especially if you want a nice romantic evening.

I did not enjoy breakfasts but mainly because i am a fussy eater. We eat at the buffett ever day and the main food was eggs, sausage, bacon. There is also loads of Cereals and fruit to choose from. Tea, Coffee and juice is also served.

Lunch again was in the buffett, and i have got to say the asian food was excellent. I thought i would live on pizza and burgers for a week but had chinese most days.

Snacks - being on a cruise i get this urge for snacks so a piece of pizza or a sandwich went down well late afternoon.

Room Service - We ordered pots of tea, cakes and sandwiches. Dont be afraid to ask for things not on the menu, they did not mind making sandwiches to our liking. We tipped each waiter as they visited.

Entertainment

Malcolm the CD was so funny, he even made the disembarkation talk funny.

As we had been on the miracle 2 years ago we had seen most of the shows so we opted to go to the piano bars or the atrium bar. One good show was Marcus Munrow the juggler, this again was funny.

The past guest party was ok, it involved free drinks and canapies for around an hour.

The one thing missing from this cruise was the midnight buffett. Apparently loads of food got wasted so they now have a mexican party. Being party poopers and tired from a day in the sun we did not attend.

Cabin

We had cabin 5123 which was an extended balcony. I did feel this was big. One thing to remember with an extended balcony you are further out than the people above so no wandering in your birthday suit, you can be seen from above if you go to railing and the bridge!! The balcony was the best thing i ordered, sitting with a drink in the evening was priceless.

Well i have wrote far more than i expected but if anyone has any queries regarding the miracle please do not hesitate to ask.

Mel

Thank you for the great review. We sailed the Miracle last October and had a WONDERFUL time. Congratulations on your wedding. Many wishes for a lifetime of magic.

Was Frankie your Maitre'd? We really enjoyed our MDR experience on the Miracle and loved Nick and Nora's. One of these days I'm going to get to Half Moom Cay. Everyone talks aboout its beauty.

Thanks again for sharing your experiences.
