Default HoH/Deaf Accessible TV on Equinox

Does anyone know whether the TV service on Equinox has the option of subtitles for the deaf or hard of hearing?

Also, is the TV viewable from the bed?

Thanks for any info.

I suggest you pose your question on the Special Interest board-go back to the main list of boards and you will see that heading with a subheading for disability related issues.

While all 19 inch and larger TVs manufactured since 1993 are closed caption capable, it all depends on the programming itself. Sometimes, too, I have found that some places such as motels give you remotes which do not allow you to turn on the CCTV. If you have problems on board, ask to speak to the Audio/Video guy. They will likely be able to turn on the CCTV or give you a set that you can access.

Being deaf, I was interested to see your post

We are on the Equinox on November 5th for the TA and with all those lovely sea days, being able to watch the occasional film on TV would be great.

Never cruised on Equinox before, but on other cruises we have found that usually CC is already set up on the TV and if it isn't, a quick phone-call usually sorts out the problem. The main issue I have found is that so few of the programs/films are actually subtitled.

I am heading over to the Special Interest board as Bob and Phyl suggested

Have a great cruise

Thanks a lot. I do have some hearing, but it's not the best. We don't have too many sea days on this cruise, but I enjoy watching TV as I go to sleep. Not sure, though, whether the TV's on Equinox are viewable from the bed.

Enjoy the TA.

The TV's are absolutely viewable from bed. They are wall mounted flat panels attached to a bracket that allows you to turn towards the bed. Not the perfect angle but that's the only place I watched it from.

As far as subtitles, I didn't find any option to do that. I use captions and subtitles all the time at home. The TV's on the ship have many of their options limited and I didn't see a way to have CC or subtitles come up. I'm not syaing it can't be done, but I couldn't find out how to do it.
