Default Question on Deck 8 versus Deck 9 on Crystal Symphony

Hi Everyone,

I am planning on going on my first Crystal Cruise (Crystal Symphony) and I am so excited. I have cruised on many other cruise lines (the nicest being Celebrity) but nothing of Crystal’s luxury class. My question is that I usually try to get near the middle due to (i) more moment from rough water being forward and (ii) vibration from engines in the aft.

Unfortunately, the best room I could get in Category B was 8123. I do know on certain ships, if you are in the back you can experience quite a bit of vibration from the engines. So I am debating about upgrading to Category A on the ninth floor so I can get right in the middle of the ship. But this obviously costs quite a bit more. I would rather save the money for excursions but my wife is a very light sleeper and I don’t want her to have trouble sleeping due to vibration from the engine.

Thanks in advance for your help!

On Symphony we always book at category B (deck eight) toward the back of the ship. I have yet to experience any vibration. However, I believe that some people on this board have reported some vibration. Of course you can always book forward; however, I believe that in heavy seas, the forward cabins get the rough ride. My take is always for the back of the ship. I hope this helps. Only you can decide if the extra cost for deck nine is worth the additional cost. The cabins are identical except for different colors in the cabin on deck eight vs. deck nine. By the way, you will find Symphony to be an exceptional and beautiful ship heads and shoulders above Celebrity in terms of service. Good luck with your choice.

We were on Symphony in an aft cabin as it went through very rough waters (around Cape Horn and through the Drake's Passage). Although we felt movement when the sea was rough, we did not feel any vibration at any time.

Cali,
We like being aft and have always stayed on deck 8 with no problem. This puts you directly below the Lido deck and I like to go up and get coffee in the morning and bring a cup of coffee or tea back to the room for my wife, which is very convenient.

We always book the aft cabins on deck 8. Like digtexas, my husband brings me coffee from the Lido deck in the morning and we like the over-sized verandas.

We have never been bothered by vibration.

Cool

We Have Been on both Decks 8 & 9 on Symphony...We Prefer Deck 8
Cabins 8001 & 8003 in Front...Ship Front is Steps away and I Prefer the Starboard Side...Don't Like the Port Side...9001 and 8001 are the same
in Size and 8001 saves Some Dough...and you Can See where You are going
