Default Hump balcony vs. Balcony guarantee

I currently have an E2 hump balcony w/plexi glass wall reserved on a Deck 7 of Voyager of the Seas. Yesterday, the price dropped for a balcony guarantee room and it's now $500 less than an E2. If I switch, it'll means I'll lose my hump balcony and could be put anywhere on the ship. Do you think it's worth it to keep my hump balcony or should I go with the balcony guarantee to save $500? I'm worried I'll be put in a room underneath the Windjammer and it'll be noisy. I was also looking forward to staying in a hump room. But $500!! Argh!

Default Hump

I will be in my first hump balcony in Dec. If you were happy with the price you paid to get the hump then I would say keep it! I have read so much about them and when I saw 2 on my cruise we grabbed them fast. I got an amazing deal.

I will be in the minority here..

While the hump cabins are nice because of their location, I would probably take the gaurantee that is $500 less.

I 100% agree, while the hump cabins are nice, I would not say they are not worth $500 more. That's a lot of fruity adult beverages!!

Besides, if you get a cabin you don't like assigned, you may be able to call and get a different one. I have done this successfully in the past (actually how I got my hump JS!), but I've heard of others being told no so it is a crap shoot.

Whatever you choose, enjoy!

I would take the guarantee for a savings of $500..... There are lots of E2 cabins available on your sailing and even some humps on deck six...not center humps but, still humps available.
Go for it and keep in mind that after you get you guarantee cabin assignment you can always call C & A and ask to be moved....heck, you might even get your hump cabin back!

Default hump balcony

I'd take the hump balcony!
The extra space is wonderful.
I think its worth the extra cost.
I've had one a couple of times
and if you spend time out on your
balcony its a huge bonus to have
more room.

On the Voyager class, the hump balconies are no bigger than any other. I understand on some other class ships that is true, but doesn't work in this case.

While the "hump" location is VERY convenient, on Voyager class ships, there's no "extra space" because of the hump--it's only Radiance class that has that variation.

I agree with those suggesting taking the guarantee balcony ...unless you're traveling alone ...the $500 reduction translates to $1000 for a couple

No, it's saving $500 total.

Thanks, everyone, for your input!

We just did something similar for our upcoming Independence cruise in January. Just yesterday as a matter of fact. We did not have a hump, but we were very happy with the room we had reserved. We decided to go with the GTY in order to save $654. Upon completion of this change I asked the Rep when we would find out our room assignment and she told me they were just going to go ahead and let us keep the room we have. We are so happy we decided to give it a try.

We are going on the Independnce in February and saved $400.00 each by giving up our hump E2 for guarantee cabin.

I would give up the hump cabin in a heartbeat. Like the OP said the balcony isn't any bigger than any other balcony. Now if it was the corner aft on deck 7, that would be a hard decision.

Default Hump decision

Humps are really nice and bigger on some RCL boats but we've been on VOS and the best thing about a hump on that ship is the location. The balconies are no bigger so go with the guarantee and take your chances.

My 2 cents! If you go on a different class ship, some of the hump rooms have much bigger balconies but you can tell that from the pictures of the ship layout.

We gave up a center hump 9th deck D1 on Independence for last April's TA. Saved around half. They will let you choose from cabins in the guarantee pool. After a little back and forth we ended up with a D2 a few doors down from the hump also on 9 -- great cabin, great ship.

As a committed price snob, even if we had ended up with an E [a little smaller than the Ds], I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for letting me know this! My travel agent is going to call today to see if they'll also let me keep my cabin and get $500 off! Here's hoping!

Okay. I just pulled the trigger and got the guarantee balcony. I don't know my new cabin number yet and it's killing me! I hope we get a decent cabin!!! But I saved $460! (Price went up a little more since I last posted.)
