Default Chilled Fruit Soup

Going back on the Star for Easter. Do they still server the chilled fruit soup in the dining room at lunch? Really liked it last time. Also, are there any links to get Navigators? Would like to see what there is to do ahead of time. Thanks for the help.

from what I've read on cc chilled fruit soups are in buffet only.

Do you mean "freestyle daily"? We were able to get from someone nice who cruised just before us.

We got off the Star last Sunday. During our 6 day cruise, they did serve cihlled soups in the dining room at both lunch and dinner. Rumor has it, though, that the menus on the Star will be changing to what the Dawn has been trying out over the summer -- and they DON'T have chilled soups listed on the dinner menus .

They were available in the buffet, right next to the area where the small amount of salad bar items were. On occassion, we took the opportunity to go get another bowl after lunch...

I brought home my Freestyle Dailys, that are NCL's version of the daily schedule, and if anyone is interested, I can scan them and either email them to you or post them along with my webshots photos. I'm not sure if they change at all with the different itineraries, though.

I will be on a different ship, but I love seeing the Dailies. Can you please email me a copy? ann junk @ sbcglobal dot net.

Also, do you happen to have the teen dailies?

Thanks.

Once I get them scanned, I'll be glad to email them to you. I'll try and get to them within the week. I don't have the teen dailies. We didn't start cruising until our kids were past their teen years -- and they weren't with us this trip anyway.

It's second hand information, from one of the other posters on our roll-call who talked with the assistant maitre'd in Versailles. According to one of her posts, the Star will be switching next month. My guess is that they'll eventually make the shift fleet-wide. Since I've been cruising with NCL, the menus have always been more or less standard fleet-wide. I think all the food contracts are negotiated for the entire company -- not per ship -- so it makes sense to keep the menus the same.

I don't like buffets and pray the chilled fruit soups at somewhere else too. We had them on the Sun at lunch in Il Adagio. Does anyone know if those wonderful soups are available at the suite lunch venue?

Hi, Debbie.

As I recall there was a chilled soup at every lunch in the main dining rooms on our Spirit cruise to Bermuda, banana and mango, blueberry among them. There was at least one (strawberry, I think) at dinner, both in the dining rooms and the buffet.

On the STAR last week the chilled fruit soups were in both the Main Dining Rooms and on the Market Cafe Buffet table for lunch and dinner and they are as delicious as ever!!!

There was one flavor each day.

I recall bananna, peach, melon, black cherry, pineapple and (for some reason???) carrot/ginger, (which I did not try).

ENJOY!

Sorry, I think the Navigators where on Disney. Yes, I am looking for a link to any posted Freestyle Dalies on the Star. Does anyone know of any? Thanks for the posts. Chilled fruit soups where a very pleasant treat last time. I am glad to see that they are now available on the buffet as well as the dining room.

We just got off the Dawn this weekend. We found the chilled soups on the buffet at supper only. We made a pilgrimage each night either before or after a trip to the MDR just to find the soup. =)

I say this just in case the Star does adopt the Dawn dining format.

It may be a slim difference, but to me they are more like home made fruit ice cream before it is frozen, at least taste wise. That is what the banana and the peach always reminded me of. My Dad's home made ice cream. I am not really that crazy about ice cream, even as a child, so I would always let mine melt and drink it.. LOL 8-)

You were way ahead of your time. Perhaps that was an omen that you were to be a cruising suite junkie!
