Question 3 day Bahamas.....NCL Sky or RCC Majesty

Hey,

I want to book a 3 night cruise out of Miami for Oct/Nov. Having already sailed CCL’s Imagination I’m ready to try a new line. My choices are RCC Majesty of the Seas or NCL Sky. Which would you choose?

Dining……RCC “my time dining” or NCL “freestyle dining”….. Who does it better?

Private Island…….CocoCay or Great Stirrup Cay? I’ve read enough reviews to know that CocoCay beats GSC, right?

I only have one side of the story but it's a good one. We went on our first cruise in September aboard the Sky and loved it. I felt that the ship was in great shape, the food was very good (try Longboards Bar for some VERY good Fish and Chips if that is your thing). The ship never felt crowded to us (we were at 90% capacity during our sailing) and we found all the staff to be very helpful and accommodating.

We really like the option of being able to eat when and where we wanted. In fact I liked it so much that I can't imagine ever wanting to try another cruise line. Example...we returned to the ship from Nassau at around 2:30. Ate pizza and pasta at Il Dagio...if we had a 5:30 seating for dinner it would have never worked. Instead we ate after the show that night at 9:30-10:00...it was Freestyle our way and we loved it.

As for comparing the islands that is tough unless you have experienced both. GSC was a nice relaxing day for us. We found a spot and just relaxed! The water was lovely and the bar service was good as well. I was not disappointed at all.

I have friends who love RCCL but I don't think I will ever go anywhere else.

I have tried The AnyTime on some of the other lines and none of them come close to Freestyle with NCL.
As far as your trip goes , I would want as much free scheduling as posible.
Plus the sky is a nice ship .. Have a good time

I can only report for the Majesty- and I loved it!
Cococay is, to this day, my favorite port. There was good food and PLENTY of lounge chairs. We snorkeled, beachcombed and hiked through the jungle (looking for reptiles!)- Almost missed the last tender.

The ship is nice, considering her age and size. I was VERY impressed with the dining- more so than on Freedom in fact. The staff was a great team. I noticed hardly any children on the cruise, and noticed mostly couples onboard.

I've done the Majesty 3 times and enjoyed the trio each time. I will probably book another 3 nighter for Dec.-Feb. timeframe and may give the Sky a try just for a change of pace. What day does the sky go to Nassau? I know one of the downfalls of the Majesty is Sunday in Nassau so not everything is open.

The Sky is in Nassau on Saturday. There are more ships in Nassau on Saturday. That was one of the reasons I preferred Majesty...less crowds in Nassau on Sunday. I've been to Nassau before, this time around I'm looking to hang @ a beach...

I was on the Sky in Jan for a sisters only cruise. We had a great time and loved the freestyle aspect of it. It was great to not have to plan our afternoons and evenings around our dinner schedule. We also really liked the food in the MDR. We were planning on going to at least one of the specialty restauraunts but were so excited about the MDR menus that we never went.

Don't know about GSC yet, but there is a really nice nature walk on CocoCay.

I had a Monarch vs Sky 4 day thread a little while ago and I received a bunch of replies going each way.

I have done the Bahama cruises twice on the Majesty and once on the Sky. I would choose the Sky. Having been to both GSC and CocoCay, I liked CocoCay much better. GSC has tons of rocks and shallow water to wade through. You have to go way out off of the shore to get water above your chest. The amount of rocks you have to dodge to get there is tough. Lots of stubbed toes.

I did the Imagination 3 day and I will probably not do it again. I love the Majesty and have sailed on her 3 times. It will be my first time on the Sky this weekend. I will give you my opinion on Tuesday when I get back.

I agree....I don't think I'd sail the Imagination again.

Great....looking forward to your review. Have a great cruise!

Just back from the Sky...and IMO you can't go wrong with the Sky! Great crew and excellent ship!
