Default Blue Case and old fashioned HAL luggage tags arrived

I was very surprised to receive a nice blue vinyl case with copies of my HAL documents as well as 4 of the authentic HAL luggage tags that we are used to. I did not ask for such, but automatically sent by my TA. The blue folders were imprinted with my TA's name, but the luggage tags were the real thing. Perhaps they just have tags left over, time will tell. I am dancing, although I had totally adjusted to the e-docs thing and making my own tags.

We got the blue case and regular luggage tags in March on the Veendam. I didn't know HAL was switching over to the self-printed tags, which I hate by the way. Guess that means we'll get them next March on the Zaandam.

Sounds like your TA is using up left overs but lucky you. Enjoy. It is likely the last you will receive. Our last was in August for Maasdam. Our November cruise on Westerdam, e-docs only.

That's okay. We have plenty of HAL travel wallets to use.

sail7seas, I imagine you are right about the luggage tags.

Does anyone remember what the luggage tags look like that the longshoremen at the pier have to write on?

Yes, they use them in San Diego.

The imprinted blue folder makes me think this was something done by the TA and they just happened to have a supply left for the right now. Not sure if TA's could still order and get these from HAL but I suspect not. Years ago we went on a HAL cruise booked through what was then a pretty good sized cruise only TA and either HAL or the TA had personalized the folders with the TA's name, logo, etc.

Are you going on a GWV or some segment? Seems like I recall reading that they would still be used there ... at least for a while.

As I mentioned in my original post, the blue folders were imprinted with the TRAVEL AGENCY name, and they plan to continue to use them for the time being at least. They also went online and printed the boarding pass, etc. along with a few of their own goodies, like their shipboard credit gift notice. It was all through my TA. What they did include from HAL were the "old-fashioned" luggage tags with the ship's name on them. As sail7seas surmised, and I agree, they probably have a stock left over they are using up. We shall see. I just was surprised to get them, 4 of them.

JTL513,
I recall reading the same thing and I believe that is true. But this is not a Grand Voyage and it was done by my TA.

We just got back on Thursday from a 4 day cruise that I booked directly with Hal. While I was on the phone with the rep I asked about the blue wallets and luggage tags. I was told (rightly) that they had been discontinued.

However, about 2 weeks later I received the printed Zaandam tags in the mail, I thought it was a nice gesture on his part.
