Legend Review 10/4 -10/11

OK so I have not downloaded my pix yet but I have to get started on this review.... soooooo much to say.... and yes I will have details on " the fight"

OK so we flew into Tampa on 10/2... DF and I along with 2 other couples and one of their adult daughters.... ( this will become an important fact later)... we stayed at the Hyatt downtown ... the taxi from the airport was $25 to the hotel. The Hyatt was wonderfull.. big room great pool, hot tubs, walking distance to everything I will give them a thumbs up ... loved the hotel..
We had dinner on the fly Friday night and hung out in the pool .. Saturday we got some sun, one of the couples we were traveling with rented a motorcycle for the day and had a fantistic time. The other couple and their duaghter visited family in Florida.. anyhow.. I digress
Saturday nite was a group dinner at Boss Hoggs.. food was OK.. service was terrible.. but ... we survived...

Sunday AM we made our way to the ship about 10:30... check in was super easy ... lines moved quickly,, we had sail and sign cards in hand and had drinks of the day by noon...

Legend is very nice.. we have cruised the Miracle and as the " sister" ship the layout was familiar.. the decor was much more subdued...

We watched some football in the sports bar and headed up to the sail away party which was a lot of fun...

We had late seating dinner and our waiter TK ranks as one of our all time favorites.. he provided the usual level of service but went above and beyond to make sure to speak to each and everyone at our table and get to know us .. what we liked ect... for instance my df ordered 3 shrimp cocktail the first nite.. for the remainder of the week they were waiting for us as soon as we sat down. We really loved TK.. I miss TK.....

We missed the Welcome aboard show...we were tired !!! so we called it a night.. We also met our room Steward Juan who we also have nothing but wondeful things to say about.. he always seemed to be there in the hallway.. I don't know that this man ever slept....

Monday was a sea day .. .we had lots of sun and fun by the pool.. poked around the ship..ate, napped, ate some more, drank some more, napped.. OK I think you get it.... it was a sea day...
dinner was wonderful .. Elegant nite.. I have to say that there were many men in tuxes... they all looked so handsome.. I was surprised to see so many .. it was a pleasant surprise... We did go to the show tonite and it was fantastic, Jazz type show great dancing, singers.. and then a late nite stroll around the deck and off to bed.. tomorow is Grand Cayman..

So this is where the story about the " altercation begins".. we are a group of 8, our rooms are all together except that there is a couple in the middle of us traveling with their sons who were in an inside across the hall from them.. Now I must say I was 2 doors down so I never heard them but our group began commenting on the balcony door slamming as they went in and out apparently often... no big deal at this point.. probably new to cruising and just did not know ?

We spent the day at the beach in Grand Cayman.. some parasailed and loved it.. DF and I planted our behinds in the sand and swam. The water was amazing and the beach beautiful.. crystal clear blue Carribean water and HOT sun.. It was fantastic... back to the ship for showers .. a snack and a nap.. dinner was wonderful again .. after dinner we hit the Casino for a while.... and donated of course.. but fun was had by all... our friends again mention their neighbors balcony door slamming and people in and out in and out...we went to sleep with smiles on our faces and could not wait for the next day... Cozumel here we come..

We got off in Cozumel and decided to take a cab downtown to do some shopping.. I personally did not like Cozumel.. we found the vendors very pushy. We found an intenet cafe to check in with home and poked around for a few hours. We then went back to the port area and did MORE shopping and headed back to the ship.. for you guessed it a snack and a nap.. we showered and headed to dinner which was again excellent.. I just can't get enough warm chocolate melting cake.. what can I say...
Some of our group hit the show which they said was great and some of us went back to try to get revenge on the Casino.. it won again....

We arrived in Belize in the morning... one couple in our group did go Zip lining with a ship excursion.. we opted for a day on the ship without the crowds which turned out to be very nice... pool to ourselves for the most part.. no lines no waiting.... The Belize reviews from our group were mixed. They did enjoy the zip line but it was a long ride there and back...
Now.. the members of our group come to dinner and are getting frustrated with their neighbors and the slamming balcony door... not good !!! After dinner we go back to the rooms and shortly there after our friend is knocking on our door she explains that while out on her balcony the neighbors came out.. she leaned over, introduced herslef and asked if the they would please be aware that the balcony door slams ect.. the neighbors become very upset ... deny they slam the door ect... she ( our group member) is upset.. she is not a confrontational person and did not mean to offend anyone.. we tell her it will be fine .. no worries and send her off to her room... Shortly there after our other travel mates and their adult daughter are in the hall way and run into the door slammers who procede to complain about the " discussion" that occured. They had some not so nice words to describe our other friend.. Now at this point they have no idea that we are all together. The husband then begins to compliment our friends adult daughter she is 22 and she is adorable.. he follows them all the way back to their rooms and they go in .. a few minutes later he is knocking at the young girls door !!!! He again tells her how beautiful she is and that his wife is terminally ill.. and that our friends daughter is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen and that he would like to " be with her" if she will have him ????????? Frankly she is creeped out but polite. She says good night.. shuts her door.. waits for him to leave and comes back to our rooms.. our room was adjoining with her parents room... We also then find out that our other friend who had asked the neighbor not to slam his door was confronted by him in the hallway when she had left our room earlier !!! We all opine he is a creep and go to bed.. We have a big day tomorow in Roatan...

We arrive early in Roatan.. we opt to get off the ship and arrange our own tour as a group of 10.. we find Victor Bodden tours and for $20 each we get a nice van together and we get a tour of the island ... we stop for photos often and get to learn so much about the island... Our tour includes a guide who takes us to some shops and we get a 30% discount.. The Mahogany products are amazing.. we then went to the Monkey farm.. oh my gosh they were so cute.. .we held them and fed them.. they had tropical birds, reindeer.. oh and a cute cat.. Then he takes us to a private beach right next to Carnival's Tabbiana.. there is a great pool with a swim up bar.. food, drinks, chairs umbrellas ect.. it was the highlight of our trip. We have agreed we are going back to Roatan for a week.. it was amazing... Thank you Kenny from Victor Bodden... we loved the tour...

An amazing day was had by all... we headed back to get ready for our second elegant nite... and folks this is where all he** breaks loose...

Now let me say that the creepy guy I refered to earlier has been turning up everywhere our friends daugher is.. if she is in the pool he is standing there just watching her.. he comments every time he sees her how much he loves her hair.. ect.. now his wife is traveling with him... who does this???

So we go to dinner which was again perfect.. our plans are to stop for our annual group photo on the stairs in the lobby and then we will all go together to the show... we have our picture taken and as we are walking to pick up our purses this guy again approaches our friends daughter.. now she is getting upset.. she comes over to me ....tears in her eyes and sais he is here again... I tell her to ignore him and stay with us.. our other friend ( the one who he has had a confrontation with), her husband puts his arm around the girl and says stay with me... The creepy guy then makes some comment about the wife .... sooooo our friends husband tells the guy to leave his wife and the girl alone.. The next thing we know 4 guys ( the creepy guy, his friend, his father, and his son) all attack our friends husband.. All I hear is our friends daughter yell " Dad" then her Dad and my fiance go running toward the fight... Well we all do.. .when I get there 3 guys are holding my friends husband while one just starts punching him. Our guys start pulling them off, the girls dad gets held and punched to the point he falls to the floor unconscious... Then the father comes up behind me and pushes me... What the he*** ... Security arrives and we spend the next several hours giving statements ect.. Carnival ends up posting a security guard in our hallway for the rest of the night.

So I am sure I am leaving out a bunch of little things... like that when the girls dad was being taken to the inf. to be checked out.. Security by his side, they walk by the other group and they heckle to him " hey.. how does it feel to be knocked out by a 19 year old" and start laughing !!! Really.. who does this?? The guys in our group are the easiest going guys you will ever meet.. nobody wanted to have any confrontation with them.. we ignored them... Maybe it's me but where is it OK for 4 men to just jump 1 guy ? I don't get it...

So Carnival did the best they could with the situation I guess.. I don't think any of this is their fault... they made a point to tell our group that IF we opted to press charges our entire group would be detained in Tampa to await Federal Agents and that we could not leave the ship until the incident was handled by the Fed's... we were upset but did not want to press charges we just did not want to be harassed any more..

Our last sea day was spent pool side and it was very nice.. We again hit the Casino and donated again.. The fight was the talk of the ship and of course the story got bigger as it went down the line... what a story ...

We were awake by 7 and already in Tampa..Security at all of our doors wanting us to sign paperwork agreeing we would not press charges .. which we did.....

Debarkation was seemless... we had breakfast in the dining room at 7 and were off the ship and in the airport by 9:30 AM...we had a wait because our flight was not until 1 but we hung out. ate and had a great flight home

So all in all another FANTASTIC cruise..Thank you Carnivall..Thank you our waiter TK and our Room Steward Juan...and Thank you Moses for the great drink sevice... The Legend was wonderfull and we are counting down to our next cruise

I guess all kinds of folks cruise and we are glad nobody was seriously injured.. a few black eyes.. a split lip but better memories of the time we had...

You should still file charges with the FBI, who oversees incidents like this involving US citizens. It is not too late and they would easily obtain the names of the bad actors by the ships manifest and most likely by a filed incident report with Carnival Security. This is most likely not the first time these bad actors have done this and will do it again to someone else. Imagine if the "creepiness" with the 22 year old daughter rose to the level of something more serious. This "stalker" has a problem and the incident needs to be investigated, PERIOD!

Did they leave all of you alone after the incident? I would have been so tempted to press charges, but I'm sure that would have meant returning to Tampa for a trial. I didn't realize that the Federal law enforcement would be the ones to handle such an incident.

I hate to see such actions go unpunished. Those jerks leave the ship feeling they have, "gotten over." Had they been drinking too much do you think ? There was no excuse for that. Suppose that young lady had been traveling with just a few of her friends. Makes you wonder what recourse someone has on a ship if they are being stalked or harassed, doesn't it.

I'm glad that you were all able to enjoy your vacation. No one should have their vacation hampered by rude jerks like that. It will be a vacation you will never forget, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing, looking forward to your pictures.

We have cruised 3 times and this has never ever happened..It all happened so quickly.. there were just people everywhere.. and I almost forgot the old guy called me FAT !!! I think that speaks volumes to the calibur of the people we are dealing with here.

The man in our group that was sucker punched by the 19 year old kid is almost 50 he is a professional man with a wife of 24 years and a lovely 22 year old daughter.. he has never been in a fight ... he is the calm one of all of us.. are you kidding me...

The guy who was jumped first... is in his mid 40's.. he is a land developer and a father and husband... he also would never fight like that...

I could not agree more.. We were aware when we left the ship that the optioin was still on the table.. Our friends simply did not want to have everone detained.. miss flights.. They will have to decide what to do on their own.. Your right.. Security told us that the other party did not want
"anymore trouble"... Anymore trouble... we never wanted any to begin with.. We did not see them for the remainder of the trip.. well we did see the old guy the next day but as soon as he saw us he turned and went the other way. We also were scared to think what could have happened. I am sure that once everyone invloved gets legal advice they will decide what to do ...

Believe me we had lengthy private discussion as a group. We would have supported whatever they decided to do.. Even if it meant staying in Tampa to pursue legal action... We then also agreed we will not let these people ruin what was otherwise a wonderful vacation. We went on with our trip as if they did not exist.. They were followed around by Security... YES alcohol was a factor.. The 19 year old was noticably intoxicated.. Security pulled our sail & sign and saw that the men in our group had each had a drink with dinner and that was it for the day.. we are not big drinkers... these people were influenced by alcohol ... We have a great story and we have had many laughs about it since.. the Rocky theme has been hummed more than once...

I appreciate your post because you have such a positive spin. Some posters who let trivial inconveniences or small complaints ruin their trips shoule read yours. If you can move beyond something that big, to go ahead and enjoy your vacation, they could use a lesson in not letting anything block your joy. Life is short, you have to make the best of each situation.

Oh wow! I was on this cruise and heard about the fight, was in the photo area near there right after it happened. I never heard any details though. I am glad everyone is ok, but that is CRAZY. I am a single parent and was traveling alone with my 2 young children. So, this scares the heck out of me! I honestly wish your group would press charges.

BTW, if I wrote a review it would be very close to yours (other than the fight) We did similar things, LOVED Grand Cayman, Roatan (did a tour with Victor Bodden and LOVED it) stayed on the boat in Belize, wasn't crazy about Cozumel. Loved everything about the ship, food, staff.

While some of the Carnival Security were more likeable than others all in all we felt they did what they could. We actually met with the man who is second in command. He came to the private room they had taken us to after the incident. He was very soft spoken, and polite. He was very sincere in his concern.. at least I felt. We were comfortable knowing a security guard was in our hall all night.

This group of people are some of the best people I have ever known. One couple is a coworker and her husband. She and I are very good friends and I can not speak highly enough about her as a person. She is a good friend, coworker, wife, daughther and mother. I count my self lucky to be her friend. Her husband is a great guy. He works hard to provide for his family and is respectufull of everyone and they have a wonderfull son . We also travel with our best friends and their daughter, she and I are business partners and the closest of friends. Their daughter is a beautiful, 22 year old woman she is confident and well spoken, she is a pleasure to be with and I think of her as a daughter. We were also joined by their sister in law who lost her husband recently, this man was alos my friends brother. So we enjoy being together. We are lucky to get to spend this amount of time with people we love and enjoy being with. Wework very hard for this annual vacation together and eat, laugh and travel togehter. So my point is that there is no person, or people, or event that will provent us from enjoying every minute of our time together. We simply won't. So our vacation was not ruined. It is unfortunate that a family traveling together would waste their precious time together in this manner.. what a sad waste of time.

I hope that you did not feal that your were not safe because of this ... you sound like you had a similar experience.. Victo Bodden was A++++++with us... The food and staff were top notch.

Oh, NO! I definitely do not feel unsafe because of this. I just hate to see idiots like that go without some sort of punishment. Actually what makes me unsettled is the creepy guy stalking your friend's daughter... EEEWWWW!!! I will say that I do appreciate your positive attitude about it!

Kudos to your group for your great attitude!

Victor Bodden did get an A+++ we were able to see and do so much, and I would absolutely love to go back and spend a week on Roatan. We even went out on the glass bottom boat, and you definitely need to do that! Next time I am snorkeling. The reef is AMAZING... Did you go to West End and Half Moon Bay? It was a neat little area too, not as nice as that resort near Tabyana, but it was quaint.

Carnival needs to do a 5 nt cruise that just goes to Grand Cayman and Roatan. I would take that one over and over again!!!

I am glad you were able to enjoy your cruise and look back and laugh. Your group is definitely 'the better people' in this situation.

I beleive in karma, and those people will get what's coming to them for sure.
