Default Booked Verandah and now have viewing balcony

We booked a verandah on the 10/24 sailing of Eurodam and were assigned 10036. Just saw that it's a viewing balcony. Any thoughts? I assumed we would have room for sitting and relaxing, not just viewing. Tia

1) What catagory did you book? I would be really ticked off If I booked a cabin with a Veranda and got one of those "Viewing Veranda" cabins! Did you book a guarantee? Did you book directly with HAL or through a TA? In eather case I would call first thing tomorrow to see if you can be moved to a "real" veranda cabin.

2) We have a large group of folks on this sailing who have been chatting on the Roll call thread here:http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showt...905796&page=23

Stop by and check in. We have a Meet & Greet and a cabin crawl planned and a bunch of "cool cruisers" ready to sail on Saturday.

Thanks for the reply. My room is 10036 and it is showing as a VQ on the ship plan but the invoice is showing a VT from TA. I'm not sure what I booked as I went through xxx and saw a verandah for a good price and booked it. Maybe I'm wrong? Hoping...and 10036 is ok???

Ummm, what is a "viewing veranda"? Can't say I've heard of those.

I never heard of it either but now looking around on cc I see that they have some small Romeo/Juliet balconies that are more of a viewing balcony than sitting out and relaxing. Hoping my room 10036 VQ on ship's plan is not a viewing balcony. Anyone have any info? HELP. TIA

The VQs are not viewing balconies according to the deck plan.

If you booked a VT, you were upgraded to the VQ. The VT is the catagory with the viewing balcony.

The VT and VQ are "Spa" cabins, with certain "spa amenities: in the cabins.

And an FYI...You are not permitted to name travel agents here on CC.

I think the only "juliet viewing" balconies are on deck 11 so you should be ok but I'm not positive...

Thanks for the info. Did not know the rules. As it turns out, I guess they did a good job as our invoice said VT and the VQ looks like that's our category. That would be great if we had a good verandah and also linked to the spa.

Thank you guys so much for the quick information. I was getting really upset if I had a viewing balcony. I reported my own post since I couldn't edit. What a great forum. Must check in on roll call.

The five cabins with the small, round balconies are the VT cabins on deck 11, your VQ is on Deck 10 below it:

I suspect you were upgraded at somepoint. I knew folks in VQ who loved it last year. That would be a great upgrade you know, from lowest bacony to the highest, assuming you care about the spa and your private stairway to it.

You will have sitting room and more. One of our CC memebers, debjsc took photos of her VQ stateroom on Deck 10, here is a photo she sent of her Verandah http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HA...cabin_balc.jpg and here is the photos page where you can see the stateroom photos for her stateroom with her dscription of it under the photos http://joanjett2000.topcities.com/HA...dam/index.html

PinkCruiser, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this isn't a standard balcony, although not quite juliet/viewing balcony.

PS - I just looked at Joan's link...more depth than the deck plans show? I'm confused, but happy for you....but I think you'll find the balcony isn't much more than 3 feet deep, rather than the standard 6 feet.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. Even if it is not as deep as the rest, I bel. 3 feet should be enuf room to enjoy the outside. Certainly better than the Juliet balcony. The spa amenities should be nice. Can't wait!!!

We had a VE Balcony in March on ms Westerdam. We were able to enjoy it just fine...particularly when watching the sunrise and sunsets, plus watching islands and ships passing in the night, all lit up. Very fun. As other people may say it isn't the size that matters, but what you do with it, eh?
