Default Excursions - Hartleys Helmet Dive and Caves

Although we did a lot of sightseeing in Bermuda, other then the beaches our two favorite excursion were the caves and Hartely's Helmet Dive

The dive was a lot of fun and educational. I would recommended for people of all ages. It was easy, you can breath normally, there are no sharks and any animals that will bite worries, Greg is very aware of his surroundings and is on top of everything. He does an amazing job of taking pictures. I can't tell you enough about the dive. My wife and I ahd a blast. We took our two year old son, so my wife went down with the second group, while I stayed with my son on the boat, then when the second group came up, my wife stayed down there, and a wonderfully nice lady chose to baby sit our son for ten minutes while I went down. Greg took pictures, and my wife came back up, and I stayed down while the rest of the third group came down.

Both the caves were nice, but you really only need to see one. You walk down and back up at least 80 steps each way, so be prepared if you chose to go.

Just thought I would share my two cents.

Default Helmet Dive

Thanks for the "2 cents." My husband and I signed up for the Helmet Dive and we're looking forward to it! But when we tell people what we're doing, they look at us like we have 3 heads and then we show them the website and they crack up when they see the actual helmets. I just think it's someting different that you don't get to do everywhere. Thanks for sharing...I know we'll have a great time.

Spent 4 years working in Bermuda, and went helmet diving a dozen times. YES...this is indeed a great adventure and worth every penny. And nothing scarry about it al all. You step down the ladder about 16 feet and wham...your in new world

Can you tell me more about it? Is this cruise sponsored or what? What does it cost?

We did Hartley's Helmet Dive this past May, and it was a great excursion. We booked ours through the ship (just for the convenience) but you can also book independently, on-line. Google Hartley's Helmet Dive, and you will find the website. Look at the pictures, and you will be sold on doing this unusual, fun excursion. You don't need to know how to swim. It's good for any age. No skill of any kind needed. We did it in May, when the water was still cool, so we wore wet suits that were provided, but in the summer you just go down in your bathing suits. For me, putting on the wet suit was as much an adventure as the dive. Good thing "Funniest Home Videos" wasn't aboard! The price was $89/pp I believe, but worth every penney. Something you will never forget. Also, it's worth buying the photo CD of pictures Gregg wil take of you, underwater. Again, it's pricey (everything in Bermuda is!), but it's memories of a lifetime. Do the tour. You'll be SO happy you did!
