Default Guarantee assignment

I have not booked guarantee in a long time, so I can't remember when Princess does the actual assignment. I know we are still 43days away, but I am curious when will they do that? Just want to see where my balcony is.
Any experiences?
Thanks

Assignment could be anytime from the time you book until the day of the cruise. For our first guarantee we got assigned a cabin right away and the second time we had to wait several months, then 2 weeks before the cruise got upgraded from and outside cabin to a mini suite.

I just booked a guarantee and have not received my assignment either. But are you saying that even if I am assigned a cabin today, I might be upgraded to a different cabin before the cruise?

Thank you,

We sail this Sunday and we just got our cabin assignment today. We had a guarantee BA and were upgraded to a mini suite. It is one of the hard to get Emerald deck minis' which are covered. Even better, it is the last one, E730, which means it has a much bigger than normal balcony!! I was really getting crazy waiting, but was assured by our TA and Princess not to worry. I think it was worth the wait, but I will think twice about booking a guarantee in the future.

We booked a GUAR cabin back in September and I just found out last Friday that we received our cabin assignment and I'm quite happy with it. We don't sail for another 100 days....The countdown begins

I've booked two guarantees, one last last year for Alaska in May and then one about a month and half ago to Med next April. Both times I booked the lowest balcony guarantee cabin. Both times I was assigned a cabin about a month after booking. I was excited to see what cabin we would get and both times I've been upgraded to BA Caribe balcony cabin. Not sure why they assign them early sometimes and later other times but I love the suspense and surprise of booking a guarantee. The other times I booked a specific cabin which was also great. I guess anytime you get to go on a cruise is wonderful!
Have a great cruise and enjoy whatever you get!

Your cabin will be assigned when it's assigned, which could be any time between booking and boarding the ship. You are only guaranteed the category you've booked, or better. In spite of upgrades posted here, it's best to not expect anything other than what you actually booked. Also, not all "upgrades" are desirable so be careful what you wish for.

We sail on Nov 01, 2009 and we are still waiting on cabin assignment. I check many times a day but still no cabin. We may be waiting until we board to find out, as we are only 10 days out before sailing.

We also sail on Nov 1 on the Emerald and haven't received an assignment. I guess we'll know in 10 days when we board the ship.
