Exclamation Fellow passenger seen wearing our misdelivered laundry!

We sent a bag of laundry out for washing. When it was returned to our stateroom one of my husband's shirts was missing. Reported it to steward, he followed up with the laundry department and we gave it a few days to see if it had been accidently delivered to the wrong room. One would assume if someone else found our shirt mixed in with their clean laundry that they would turn it back to their room steward and it would eventually get back to us.

Not necessarily so. About a week later my husband saw his shirt being worn by someone else on the ship! He was momentarily stunned I guess because he didn't approach the guy, and then the fellow disappeared into a crowd. The shirt was never seen again.

Anyway, we let our room steward know that they could take down the APB for the shirt because it now had a new "owner".

Anyway, we all laughed about it in the end - but talk about chutzpah!

Maybe the guy thought his wife bought it for him and packed it for the trip.

OUCH!! That is chutzpah!! But I agree with Rustynail, the guy may have thought his wife had bought it for him.

On our last Westerdam cruise to Alaska, we sent our laundry out. When it came back the next day there was a very tiny size 2 woman's blue jeans, and hubby was missing his Khaki Dockers. I called the steward and he came took the blue jeans and within 15 minutes hubby had his Dockers back.

Considering the age of many of us HAL cruisers (myself included) he may have thought it was one he had bought for himself, but just have forgotten it.

That could so easily happen with my very alert, responsible, honest DH.

I often bring home shirts, jerseys, dockers etc for him and simply put them in his closet. He has no clue I've added to his wardrobe.

I do all the packing for our cruises and he wears what he finds in his closet. I can understand your shock to see that man wearing your shirt but there's a real big chance he had no idea it wasn't his.

I totally agree, S7S -- my DH would wear anything that looked "male", because I usually buy him new clothes, and he completely forgets what he's gotten "new".

Wingit, sorry about your shirt, but I bet the guy had NO idea it wasn't his. Imagine how he'll feel someday, when he and his wife are discussing laundry, and she says "Where'd you buy THIS?" and he replies "you gave it to me" and she says "No"....

Honestly, the wife might not have noticed either. My husband has so many clothes in his closet and every once in a while he'll drag out something from the closet depths to wear. His wife may have just thought he packed an old shirt he had not worn for quite sometime. Alternatively, he might not have been married or married only a short time - who knows? I like to think most people would not take another person's clothing on a cruise.

ROFLMAO. This is better than the stuff people on television can write!

I bet that the room steward who inadvertently delivered the size 2 jeans may've gotten an extra tip in an envelope after that cruise!!!!!

Post missing shirt

What did the shirt look like? Perhaps the other guy just had the same shirt? It would be fun to hear that conversation.

Excuse me Sir, but you have my shirt on...

Actually, he did receive a larger tip since he went out of his way to get the mix up fixed so quickly There was no way even 1/2 of one of my thighs could have fitted into them.

Wow. That's amazing. I would never be unaware that some clothing item wasn't mine. I don't have that large a wardrobe ... and I pack everything myself.

My SIL left her visor and sunglasses on a lounge chair by the pool while we went to the washroom - when she came back, her chair was still
empty but the visor and sunglasses were gone.
Later she saw a woman wearing her things and was tempted to make a
scene to get them back but thought it would be useless as the woman would probably claim they were hers and she brought them aboard.

How can you prove an item is yours unless your name is stamped on it?

Maybe the guy is like my husband and has no idea whatsover what shirts he owns. My husband does not packing at all. He doesn't put out the clothes he wants to wear on a cruise. I choose and pack.
If he saw a shirt from the laundry, hanging on the hook in our cabin, he'd presume it was a shirt I'd bought for him for the cruise and he'd wear it, not knowing it belonged to someone else.
Maybe that guy is just as innocent -- but then, where was the wife or other packer to tell him that's not his shirt?

Was his shirt one of a kind which no one else could possibly have purchased for themselves ?

I do the same thing & DH just wears what I purchase & pack for him..There have been times when we've both forgotten where & when an article of clothing was purchased...

DH loved his Gibraltar hat..Unfortunately he left it in the Explorers Lounge one afternoon & when he went back, it was gone..He checked Lost & Found a couple of times, but no one had turned it in.. Easy come, Easy go..
