Default Temperatures inside the ship when in cold ports

Hi there,

I was just wondering what the temperatures are like indoors on the ship while sailing where the temps are cold outside. We're taking a cruise from Baltimore on Jan 2nd and I'm sure it will be cold outside. The first port is Charlotte SC where it will also likely be chilly outside. So my question is this...will it be just as comfortable inside the public areas of the ship in those places as it would be if we were in the Caribbean (which we will be later in the cruise)? I want to know if I can wear my evening gown on the first formal night, which has spaghetti straps. Also will it be comfortable inside during the day enough so to wear skirts, shorts and capris? Once I board I want to throw my winter coat in the closet and forget that it's cold outside for the first few days.

Thanks for info!
Tammy

Ships can be and often are cold inside even in the warmest weather of the Caribbean. In cold weather the outside doors may be opening and closing (or at windy times staying open) allowing for cold air to come inside. In general ships are comfortable, but in certain public areas they do crank out the air conditioning. Need to be prepared to put on a layer or take one off.

We took several cruises up to Alaska and down to South America where it was COLD outside. The temperatures in the public areas was always very comfortable.

We just came back from a wine cruise...Vancouver, BC to LA.
I was freezing inside the ship for the first week when the weather was cold outside...the ship was equally cold. Bring a wrap for the spagetti strap gown!
