Question can i find one of these in cozumel? i got asked to bring one back

Hello CC

I'm was asked to bring back a "molcajete" or a "mortar and pestle set" from Cozumel when I go on my cruise next month (can't wait!!) . I'm hoping you guys know... can I find these in the shops of Cozumel?

We don't have any plans to go to the mainland, so I'm hoping its something I can pick up at the market shops or something...

Thanks!!!!!

Try Los Cinco Soles... right at the port or the one in town. Or your local Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table, etc. :-)

I was going to say Los Cinco Soles would be your best bet too.

You will find them everywhere, but Los Cinco is a fun place to shop.

You can get those all over the place here in the United States. Is something special about the ones from Mexico?

They do have them in all the souvenier shops. They are wooden though; not sure if you or your friend realized that. I was going to get one until I saw that.

I dunno.... my Mexican friend asked me to get her one... I'm just trying to oblige.

If you get the authentic ones they are made of stone and I would think very heavy! I'm not sure your friend would like the wooden ones. If they want stone, it's reall going to weigh down our luggage.

Los Cinco Soles does have them, they are made of lava rock and are indeed very heavy! I have always wanted one, but never wanted to carry it home. Good luck!!
